Anyone else or their spouses have an affinity for new cook books? My wife would just as soon receive a new cook book as a present than most anything else (jewelry excepted
)
Today I cooked a brisket and Nancy took over the sides. She made a cheese grits casserole that made me swoon. It used Boursin cheese and real (not quick) grits. It came from a cookbook titled Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen by Trisha Yearwood. It's a collection of recipes from Trisha, Garth and their extended families. There's nothing that Nancy has made from it that hasn't been a BIG hit. Just thought I would pass it on, since I know there's a heavy Georgia component to the forum and I'm guessing more than a couple country music fans.

I'm NOT kidding, but WE stopped counting several years ago at 500. Is it a compulsive obsession or otherwise?...don't know...Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

My collection exceeds 2000+. If I had only known 35 years ago I would have collected gold coins.

Hi Ron,
Glad I only have 6 or 7 as they are all falling apart at the binding, guess it too dry here cause they are not that old.
Hope the shoulder is coming along O.K.
Cheers,

I have them all over; kitchen, pantry, closets, bookshelves, work and all 3 bathrooms.
16 years ago, my new bride thought it odd that I read cookbooks at bedtime. Now she is glad that I did.

LOL I have not counted in years, but they fill about every shelf and basket in the house! I have a few that are hand written from my great grandmothers
they are very very sweet. of course crumbling in a hand full of lard or small hard wood into the fire box is out for me. My Nana cooked on a wood stove right up till she died in '99 had a nice gas stove and made us move it to the porch for when it was to hot in the summer for the big old wood stove to fire up. she wrote nothing down just tossed it all together. I have a very cool very old shoe box with clipped out recipes that Neil got me at a yard sale. I believe they came out of the Boston globe and it is kind of a pen pal format with funny names. kind of a hand written, mailed and published "forum" I have gotten some very good old fashion stuff from there. Neil's first wife did not cook AT ALL and he said he figured out real fast just cause I was reading a cook book not to get to excited. I read them too just like a book

We have about 150-200. There probabaly about 10-15 that are used regularly and the others on occasion. I can't seem to stay out of the cookbook section at the bookstore :laugh:

We have over two hundred cook books. Most recent addition was the New England Soup Factory Cook Book. We made eggplant paremsan soup from it the other night and it was very good. Alas no BIG Green Eggs were involved. It could have as the eggplant was cooked in the oven and not sauted as most recipoes do.

Not sure just how many i have now, several boxes are still in storeage from the move. But I can say I just bought this booka and i think it will be one that is kept in the kitchen and used often.

Many hundreds here as well. I slowed down on acquisitions about five years ago when Internet recipes became so accessible, but I still have more books than storage space.
Currently awaiting shipment on Keller's new book on sous vide...Amazon keeps saying it's on the way. Picked up two BBQ books at the mother ship for $6 each.
Yup, my name is Dave and I'm a cookbook addict...
cue room to say: "Hi, Dave!"
