I started typeing the same thing but my wife hit me with the cast iron skillet she was going to give me. Now I don't get the skillet.

We haven't talked much about the stoker but it too is a good choice and works great.

I have both, the q2 is a easy quick set up. Very intuitive. The Stoker will work much like the q2 but also allows the computer to monitor and record the cook.

One has to follow the instructions but after that it is also fairly simple.

the 5cm fan works perfect if you have a large egg. If you have an XL get the 10. I have one of each and the 5 does fine. Plus with the 5 you can attach the digiQ on it.

Basically the digiq controls your cook for you so you can make a brisket or pork butt over night without having to monitor your cooker.

It can be attached to the 10CFM fan too.. While the 4 CFM fan works fine I find the 10CFM does run less..

If you are getting him additional items for Christmas, a must have is the Thirdhand which is a grate lifting tool. If you go to http://playingwithfireandsmoke a fellow egger named Thirdeye fabricates and sells them. Of course if he's a real Egg fan he may already have one of these and the adjustable rig. True eggheads buy all kinds of goodies so you've got to check all those secret hiding places for possible duplicates.

my 10cfm did not have the adapter hook on it like the 5cfm I got.

All mine do! If you look at the fans online the all have the hook
