welll.. what he's done for ceramic cooking is, uh, put together the most comprehensive site on the web about it.
other than that, not much

On this forum he is Wise One..
-
huh?
i thunked "Wise One" was Bill Wise? maybe i'm smoking dope. I thought the Whiz was always "the Naked Whiz" on the forum....
perhaps there's not enough Niacin in my diet er sumthin...
hahaha

Stike's answer was more than your rhetorical question deserved. You didn't find any useful, informative, even entertaining content when you visited the whiz's site the first time? Why don't you post a link to your site so we can compare?
-
I am not sure if just insulted either one, Bill or Doug, but they are definately two different people. They do not even live in the same state. They may have both stayed in a different Holiday Inn Express on the same weekend.
-
correction needed...Wise One is a separate person. Doug Hanthorn is The Naked Whiz and while he's not creating and maintaining his helpful website he's working for IBM.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

"Some say he sleeps in a discarded charcoal bag, AND if you cut him open, you'll find half a bag of lump charcoal in his pleural cavity. All we know is, he's called 'The Naked Whiz.'" -- Jeremy Clarkson
This link might help also.

Remember when you were told never to pee on an electric fence. It is possible he is THAT guy!
-
Yes all this is true  and he even taught us about putting highly smoked somethings in our new frigs or was it a friends frig?? LOL  and our lump charcoal will not make it go away :silly: :pinch: but really if I could not get to his site.... it would be like cooking with out my daisy wheel!! :woohoo: or draft door!

I have never peed on an electric fence. I am not that stupid. When a friend of mine suggested it, I immediately saw why that would be a very bad idea. The Naked Whiz

I'm not sure what you are asking, but I am The Naked Whiz. And it's "The Naked Whiz", not "Whiz" and not "Naked Whiz". Sort of like "The Ohio State University."

I'm just an Egger like the rest of you, except that I think I'm funnier than the rest of you.
By day, I am mild-mannered Doug Hanthorn, also known here at work as "FB". (It stands for F****** Brilliant.) I essentially single-handedly keep the front end registers running around the world at any retail or supermarket enterprise using IBM Point of Sale Equipment. That explains why sometimes I am grumpy.
By night and by weekends, I am The Naked Whiz who spends far too much time on the website, testing charcoal, being incredibly funny.
My wife (yes, the wife who...) likes me. I think that is worth mentioning.
I own 3 Eggs and 1 cooker from a competitor. I started Egging the weekend before Father's Day in 2001. In a former life back in 18th century Ireland, I invented the spatchcock chicken. That's what my medium tells me.
I like photography and old movies and chipotle steak burritos. I have a wonderful son and a wonderful step-daughter. My social security number is.....
Somebody stop me before I hurt myself, LMAO!The Naked Whiz -
 INFORMATION OVERLOAD :woohoo:
Ps Do have the code to get 25% off the barcode. :P -
crazyquestion wrote:crazy question, i know about the naked whiz website and all, but who is the actual naked whiz. what all has he done for ceramic cooking? dont want to offend anyone
register and stay a while and the question wouldn't seem so crazy.
doug was too kind IMO to reply to this thread. -
in jest my friend

Hey Doug.....you didn't mention the obvious...you go around naked........at night and at home we hope...

It's easy to confuse us . We both work for a large international machine company. We are both smart, good looking and folically challenged. We both like photography, have sons we are proud of and have wives that think we spend too much time on the internet.
And yet there are differences. The Naked Whiz enjoys burning lump charcoal just for the fun of it and taking copious notes about how it did. I enjoy reading every recipe that crosses my path and capturing what I can for possible inclusion in some cookbook. I also enjoy cooking new things on the BGE just for the fun of it and trying those that work out again. -
-
I didn't think the original poster was being rude or anything. I think he was just curious. Or maybe I am dumb enough to pee on an electric fence! :laugh:The Naked Whiz

Folically challenged!?!?!? Them's fightin' words! :laugh:The Naked Whiz

is there a problem? I resemble that remark. :laugh:You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP

I'm not buying all the "regular guy" stuff. I'd much rather keep you up on the obscure pedestal that I've had you on for the last couple years. Kind of a leather-bound set of encyclopedias. A "Webster" of definitions. A "Google" of ceramic cooking. You know, a leader who'll deliver us all out of lousey backyard cuisine. Our own Guru, sort of!
Thank you Master Whiz for always being there! -
Just a guy. A regular guy who has shared years worth of information so you don't make the same mistakes that others who proceeded you and me. A regular guy who has enough intelligence to put together a site that is one of (if not)the best on you using your ceramic investment. He is no god, just a regular guy who wants you to have a better experience entertaining your family and friends. I don't know him, I've never met him, I've never e-mailed him, but I have used his shared information to my advantage for my experience on my Egg. So if I were you I'd just say THANK YOU. No offense taken.

or if you had actually had a brain lapse and done it....you would have needed the :woohoo: , :( , and possibly the :pinch:
-
Peeing on an electric fence is a naked whiz!

I for one would like to thank The Naked Whiz. Great site and spectacular information. Really helped me a lot..especially with my Best Choice brand lump that is available from wholesale grocers here locally in Kansas City. Cheap and same as Royal Oak.
Anyone know where to get good/cheap lump here in KC ? ....I'd love some advice from a local.
