14.55 LB butt

I have a bone in butt I intend to start cooking tomorrow night about this time and letting it cook until it is done, lunch, supper, whenever. My only question is did I go overboard on a single cut of meat? I am not sure if I am clear in that. I am only feeding my family so size wasn't an issue, I just bought what looked nice to me from Sam's and mind you looked good to a first timer. So is such a large single cut of meat going to cause me problems getting it tender and cooked through? etc etc etc

I bet you have a double pack of butts. Sam's typically sells them in a double pack which is cryovac or shrink wrapped.

Good to know. I thought it sure looked like a big piece of meat.

Even if that was one chunk o' meat, nothing wrong with going big. There are only two of us at home, so that would have been more than enough (unless college boy comes home, in which case I might want to cook more). It freezes well so you will have plenty for later. My only question is did I go overboard on a single cut of meat?...I am only feeding my family so size wasn't an issue
