Need help settling a friendly bet.

Has Alabama (during a game) ever had as part of their uniform, a helmet with the players number on only one side, as opposed to both sides?

Not a Bama fan, as a Tenn fan and SEC fan, I don't remember if they ever did.

Not that I can ever remember, only 32 yr old also, but only remember the number being on both sides of the helmet.

I'm a Bama Alum (BS ChE 1960) and I've been a Bama fan all my 72 years. I can't recall the Tide ever having numbers on only one side of their helmets. Of course, I have difficulty recalling a lot of things now.

I don't know....I asked the father in law (who is a huge AL fan) He remembers a time that there was a number on one side only. He does not think it was as far back as the 60's. He thought late 70's early 80's.

I am still working on the answer.
