I've been asked for my input as to whether this would be a good accessory for the Egg. Personally, I like it but I thought it would be interesting to get y'alls thoughts.

It was originally designed for rectangular shaped gas grills. Seems to fit the large Egg okay though. I don't know the price range.

Thoughts please.

I'd reccomend the half moon cast iron griddle that we sell. It has a flat surface on one side and a raised grill surface on the other side.

    Works great.

Looks pretty nice. Cleaning might be an issue.

    SC,

I've got the lodge cast iron dual-sided griddle, which I believe is the same one you featured a few weeks back for a salmon dinner you did. It's nice, but there's not quite enough space to catch the grease runoff that I get when doing burgers/sliders on that surface; the griddle you're asking about now looks like it may be able to address the issue of grease catching. If that griddle could get as hot as the cast iron one I'm using, I may be inclined to try one out.

Meanwhile, I'll keep using the round one.

It looks interesting. I like the little grease trough. How thick is metal for the grilling surface?

What's really nice is that when it is not being used to grill food, it can be placed on a desk with an "IN" sign and you got yourself a nice little in basket. ;)

i have a couple of these that work well, i use one side as a griddle and the back side for pizza, breads, and meat pies. the copper doesnt hold up to real high heats and gets soft as well as black over time but for cooking it works great.

I like the catch tray. It would make frying bacon and things of that nature a lot easier and cleaner.

As long as the heat rising in the front doesn't burn your hand, it looks good to me. Is there any danger of the front grease trap catching fire? What is the square dimensions?

Thanks for the comments. The company actually makes a number of different size griddles but this is the only one that will fit on the Egg. They said making it round almost doubles the cost due to the waste material.

If you want to see how they work on a gas grill you can go to:

    http://www.littlegriddle.com/

There are demo videos showing their use on gas grills. I'm sure they would work the same on an Egg.

Also, BobbyQ recommends you consider the Big Green Egg half moon griddle accessory if you are looking for a griddle.

I thoroughly enjoy using my cast iron griddle on my Egg and thought I would pass along the information should anyone like to add to their Egg's versatility.

    Thanks again for the input.

There's a similar, or maybe the same unit in the Williams Sonoma catalog.

It does look nice, but I wonder if it is better suited for breakfast on the gasser?

I'm intrigued by the one from the Mothership.

My math tells me it would be tight at the advertised 12X16 inch dimension (Pythagorus was a smart old guy). I make the required diameter to be 20". Did you have to trim, grind, or bend anything to get it in or are the true dimensions a touch smaller. I like the looks of this because of the grease trap (and catch if you want to scrape things between runs on the grill). Is the grill flat fairly thick? I can't use it if it's just another "sheet pan". This is the grill on the Little Griddle site? I am assuming it's the 10x16 version. I will wait for your reply then I may just order it. Thanks for the great info. ac
