500* chicken tonight
Ross in Ventura
Posts: 7,234

One 5.5 lb chicken @ 500* for 1-hr.
After 30-min I added some small red potatoes and sweet onions, salt, pepper and garlic seasoning

after 1-hr out of the Egg

Chicken, potatoes, and green beans. The chicken was moist and tender and the potatoes were done just right as well as the green beans.

Beautiful as always. What seasoning did you put on the chicken?
Hope it is not as humid on the coast as it is in the desert today. -
Fluffyb,
It's not humid on the coast today 75* just right. I used the same as I always do, Southern spice grilling spice and Southern Spice Garlic seasoning. I really like these.

Your "Big Bird" looks really good! :cheer:
I cook whole chicken round 350-375 dome but dicided to go 450 with a marinated 'spatched' bird high in the dome and it turned out great. Will go high heat again. -
Thanks, this one was the best so far I cooked it breast down that made a big difference more moist.

It looks awesome. I haven't tried a 500F chicken yet. So is 500F "the" way to cook a chicken? Did you check the internal temp before you pulled it.
