What is "Baron of Beef"?

At our local gourmet butcher, I bought a Baron of Beef instead of Prime Rib. It was about one-third the price of a rib roast & it seems to be presented as a poor man's prime rib. Being I thought I would experiment with it tomorrow night.
So, what is a Baron of Beef & how would you prepare it? I usually cook Prime Rib ala Dr. Chicken's Old English recipe, in which the roast is encased in a salt crust. Would this work as well for the Baron?
