Small raised grid

Since the fire bricks for my large won't work on my small, I used stainless hardware to raise the porcelain grid up three inches.

Looks like it's a winner.

Very nice,
Can you provide the parts used?
Greg -
All 1/4" stainless hardware.
3 1/4" x 3" stainless screws (threads all the way)
6 stainless washers 5/8" diameter
6 stainless washers 1.5" diameter (larger hole)
3 galvanized large washers (1.5") for bottom
9 stainless 1/4" nuts
The upper section consists of:
screw
5/8" washer
1.5" washer
egg grid
1.5" washer
5/8 washer
nut
Had to use 2 washers on top and bottom to space across the grids.
Lower section consists of:
nut
large washer (galvanized)
nut
That should do it. -
Thanks very much.
I might have to build that.

Nice, do you keep a second grid for using at regular level, or do you remove the hardware?
-
Hardware stays there. The larger washers on the bottom keep it from falling in. This assumes you have another grid for lower cooks, like the cast iron.
You can also can put in the cast iron grid, drip pan, new raised grid and you are set to go! -
Nice, I see you displayed the raised on the new table. Are you going to put any coating on the new table?
-
Yeah, but have to wait a few weeks for the wood to dry a bit.
-
Still looks great. Don't spill any grease on the new table. He He.
-
My food has no grease.
-
Sweet!!

A wing nut on the top side of the bolts would make things a snap to remove. Once I decide if I am going to keep the medium or small (or both) I will pick up chubby's device. I just don't like fussing with bolts in the egg anywhere.
4 eggs and the accessories for all of them is a bit of a challange.

would these same parts work on a large bge? -
Not really. Need longer bolts, different washer sizes and all.
