Alternate Gasket Replacement Mateials
I am considering using a Knitted Wire Mesh Gasket in lieu of the fiberglass or ceramic rope because of health concerns with the particulates that might come from these products. Has anyone out there used this product in this application or can you suggest somthing else? I am concerned with the flexibility of the KWMG both installing it and long term.

Have you been on the naked whiz site and looked at the alternate gasket? I think once it is past the first firing you should be ok.You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP

NOt sure about that, but here is a site that has some information.

I used the BGE Nomex gasket and am real happy with it.The Mothership did a lot of work to come up with a bulletproof replacement for the felt and this seems to be it,with the exception of a few adhesive failures early on,It seems like everyone is happy with this product,

This is what I have successfully used on three large Eggs. I installed using Permatex hi-temp RTV.
Thermeez 395 and 397 is woven from industrial grade, Asbestos Free, Ceramic Fibers. These fibers are high in strength, flexible, durable, dimensionally and chemically stable and provide excellent electrical resistance. Ideal for thermal insulators, padding, gaskets, flexible curtains, liquid metal splash protection, expansion joints, etc. Google ‘Cotronics’. If interested, it is cat. #397-41 for 1500 deg. 1” x 1/16” x 100’ roll, enough to replace both gaskets on seven large Eggs. About $30 plus shipping. (I have no affiliation with Cotronics, just use their products very successfully)
