I am allergic to seafood (shellfish) and have been told it is iodine that causes it. I don't get violent reactions but definitely uncomfortable throat stuff. I thought maybe crawdads wouldn't have the same effect but they seemed to. Anyone else have this type of affliction and share their experiences??

read this one then google seafood allergy and read up.
iodine allergy is an allergy to iodine and seafood allergy is most likely caused by a specific protein.

    good luck and be carefull...

my 1 son and my mother can eat lobster mussles and shrimp but they are both allergic to scallops.

determine what you are allergic to and be a label reader ... the new 'healthy yogurts' pro activ and the like have anchovy 'stuff' in them.. i noticed it on the label ...a real wtf??? anchovies in my yogurt. you may want to consult an allergist to find out what exactly
you are allergic to and if it would be wise to get an 'epi'pen in case of anaphylaxis.

Thanks for your comments and web link. Luckily my reaction is minor. I am even a little allergic to peanuts but eat them all the time.

Things like peanut allergies get worse the more you are exposed to them....Be careful.

I have the same allergy. I have a reaction to raw shrimp and can't peel them. Once cooked I am fine to eat them. This was always a benifit for me working in restaurant kitchens all my life. I never had to peel.
