Finally poured myself a new top for egg table (sold my last one). I decided not to go too "pretty and shiney", but still smooth and easy to clean. Missing a couple of 1x4's on bottom, but in it's place and ready to transfer egg for party tomorrow nite.

Hey Chris,that looks really good man.It looks much better then my two previous failures

Did you just use sacrete?I still don't know why my last one failed :pinch: It may not be shiney,but it should still work great :woohoo:

Hey Doug,
yep, used quikcrete 5000 and added some tan color...hard to see in the pic though. Instead of forming this one upside down, i poured it in place and hand trowled. Used 300-500 grit pads to get it smooth, but not shiney like the last one you saw. We need to get together and work on yours, sounds like you could use a hand :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hey Chris.I could deffinetly use some help

I have failed twice so far,and have given up on concrete for now :pinch: I still think that I will add onto my porch and change my set-up anyway.I will bug the crap out of you when I am ready for that countertop though :laugh:

You should use minimum water when mixing your concrete. It should not really flow but need to appear as dry as possible while still being able to shape it. Essentially concrete has no tensile strength. It needs to be fully supported from underneath to prevent future cracking. Wire mesh definitely helps and I would probably place (2) 6"x6" mats offset from one another. There are also latex modifiers that can be added to the mix that would also improve the long term durability.
