I have seen some more expensive ones at Bass world. they were metal
-
Publix sells a "Cajun" injector for $2.50. Yes, it is plastic but looks to be durable.
-
the big stainless cabellas version is pretty useless unless you plan on injecting outside in the egg. the needle is too big and will cover the walls of your kitchen when using it.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

I don't mind the "cheap" (as in inexpensive) part, of the ones I viewed at the store, but the threads looked so thin and fragile I'm sure they would quickly fail. Never even thought of Bass (Pro?). I might have to stroll over there. Thanks

RVH,
I picked up a very nice metal injector at Lowe's last year in the BBQ section. It was off season and it cost $12.00 so I am guessing it would be about $20 this time of year.
Bass Pro had the something like the one at Lowe's. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=31038&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults

Make sure you get one with a metal end, not plastic. Plastic will break. Metal end and metal needle.
-
Thanks, Kent. In all the time I spend at Lowe's, I never seem to make it to the BBQ area. I'll try there first; on to Bass Pro if needed.

You are correct the cheap-o is good for a couple uses and then they crack or the metal thread in the needle chews up the plastic end. This unit from Bed Bath & Beyond runs about $11 and is a combo of plastic and metal and has two tips.

As for the big honking metal injectors - I sent this back for a refund!
Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
I didn't keep the package of the 'lowes' injector I picked up so I don't know the brand name. As I recall it was a professional and popular brand.
I just looked at RRP picture. I really like the needles and view 'port' on the one he has shown. The only dis-advantage, from the picture, is that the plastic tightning 'doohicky'.
I am sure with care that would not be a problem.
The Lowes injector has several exit holes up the needle offset 90°. When you inject the fluid is going into a vertical injection at multiple levels of about 1 to 1-1/2 inches. There is no end hole in the needle. I have not idea if that is an advantage or disadvantage.
If you can't find one let me know and I will check up here, I would expect you will have no problem though.
