Thermometer question--

My stock BGE thermometer's needle doesn't rest at zero. I calibrated it, and it is accurate in boiling water, but its resting point when cold is 75 degrees. Should I be concerned?

Is it zero degrees outside where your thermometer is?
In the sun my 4 GBE thermometers sit at close to 100%.

If the actual temperature where the thermometer is stored is 75 deg then no problem. Its reading ambient temp. If you store it in a 0 deg area than you are 75 deg out.

What's even more funny is that after getting my first egg. I went out and couldn't figurre out why the low end temp wasn't at '0' too.
But it did finally dawn on me I didn't need a coat either.

In what part of the Arctic do you live?

Thanks for the responses--it all makes sense now--and, BTW, greetings from Nome--

Don't sweat the small stuff and this is small stuff. While you live in Nome, I live in central Florida. My egg is on the south side of the house and exposed to direct Florida sun all day. During the day when I look at the thermometer it is over 150. I should probably use an unlit egg in place of a hot-tub for my steaks.
