outdoor kitchens

Im in the plans of building an outdoor prep table- plenty of cutting/prep space, propane side burners, and a sink. Nothing very fancy like some of your amazing outdoor kitchens, but want to be able to do everything outside except refrigerate- that is if I can find one dirt cheap I would add.
My questions are...for those of you who have running water do you have it connected to house plumbing?
I cant do that much with this table so I was thinking if there was some kind of faucet available that has an "attachment" where I can connect to a garden hose? Was thinking about getting a separate hose attached to the sink and connect it to my outside faucet when needed.
And there is waste water-cleaning dished, tools, ect. I was thinking of just letting it simply drain under my deck, but wouldnt that attract rats and other unwanted critters?
Any info would be appreciated!

I just have a hook up to a bar faucet with mine. Just hook up the garden hose when I want to use it. Agarden hose/pvc pipe . It just drains into the yard. I don't think it would attract that many critter unless you leave alot of food waste was out. You could always have it drain into a bucket and dump the bucket.
Not the best pic, hookups for the water on right side of pice right above the concrete slab, hookup for the hose is on the left and drain is the right piece of pvc.
Hope this helps, will take a better pic tomorrow if you would like one.

What you are describing is my set up. Just four 4x4x8 as post, 12 foot 2x4 for roof tined, used S.S sink and cabnet made out of 4x4 and 2x4's with one piece of oak for shelf/cutting/prep space. Water to sink by water hose buryed in ground and 3 foot drain out back of shed. 10 buck "bambo" curtains from Home Depot to break north wind in winter. Two gutted gassers for storage.

That is such a nice set up!
No need for a better pic. I see everything u described.
Yeah I would scrape off larger scraps into a trash can before I clean like i do inside, so since u havent had any problems with critters then I shouldnt be that worried.
Mine wouldnt look anything like yours, though. Just will
be a simple one built from 2x4's but get the jobs needed I want to get done. Just tired of making a mess inside and walking in and out for simple tasks that can easily be done outside.
By the way, can u link me to a photo of this "PVC" that connects the hose and faucet for running water, if possible!
Thanx a bunch!

Nothing special about the pvc, just the white stuff from lowes/homedepot and a brass connector for the garden hose. I think it is like 1 inch pvc pipe or 1 1/2 inch . Slightly larger for the drain. Can measure tomorrow if you like. If you are going to use it for prep you just want to make sure it is nsf, it is only a few cents more.

that's really neat! Nothing very fancy but something thats cozy and gets the job done.
You gave me the idea of some kind of overhang, and didnt plan it until now.
Mine wont have anything that cant be protected from weather- treated and stained wood, covered burners, and my current stainless steel sink from my kitchen since Im having my kitchen remodeled and will use this one for the project.
But now im thinking about protection from rain as I prepare food.
Thanx for the info!

I dont want u to go to much trouble. I think u gave me enough info where I can ask workers at my local Ace for what I need.
My biggest problem I face as this will be my very 1st attempt at building something like this. I did buy (3) 1 1/2x3 1/2x 8 stud boards for a little "hot/dirty grate" placement table during cooks, but that will be simple.
This will take a bit more out of me, but need to learn how to do these things as Im tired of spending so much on these kinds of tables (for grills especially) when it can cost so, so much less doing it myself.

Hey todd good luck with the table and sink. Are you a Jets fan. I am a life long Dolphin fan and we have had some great games versus each other back in the day!

Look on the web for french drain instructions, it will do what you want and keep the water from building up under your deck.

Morning Todd:
I did get a little more involved than the others with mine. For the water supply I have a hard piped line coming off of an outside faucet with a small water heater for the hot water. For the drain side, they buried a plastic 55 gallon drum with many holes drilled in the side in a bed of rock/sand. At some point in the future I may need to dig up the plastic drum to replace or clean out, but with sending 99% liquids down the drain I don't see that happening for a long time.
I do recommend getting as large a cink as you can find as I have found the one I have (18" diameter) to be fantastic for dropping the cooking grids into for cleaning.
Good luck with your efforts.Have a GREAT day!

Fish fan? Great games?? Please dont ask a season ticket holder about the 2000 midnight miracle where another poster here and I, Cornfed, left that game in the 3rd Qtr when the Fish were winning 30-7, then cursed up a storm while on the phone later.

the sink I have is a stainless steel 33x22 in 2 halves, but shouldnt be a problem with cleaning grates.
I already thought of compensating cleaning without hot water with sanitizer or a little bleach.
When i win powerball i will have something like yours..especially the Egg design on the floor.
But like I told u before at fests my uncle lives in your neck of the woods and one day I just may be at that amazing outdoor kitchen of yours making some BBQ:)
