Do you have a 5# coffee can sitting around, and tin snips? That can is big enough, and if you split the side, there will be a good air flow. A 3# can is big enough to perch onto the daisy, and will do in a pinch.
However, if you can place the chickens so that water doesn't fall on them, both a light rain or a brief thunderstorm won't be a problem with the top vents half closed.
I did one 5 hour cook in a steady rain without rain cap, and there was just a tiny puddle in the center of the chuck roast when it was over.
good luck -
Thanx, dont have the snips but maybe it wont rain real hard.
Do you think the foil idea will work? Not tight but tucked under base of daisy and puffy with toothipck holes? I dunno.

You can run to your local home improvement center and get a galvanized sheet metal vent cap that will last forever.

I was soooo proud of my vent cap when I found how nicely it fit on top of Miss Daisy. That was about a year ago, and I really haven't needed it yet. But I painted it green and it looks great under my table.

yup - here's my raingear.
Just remember that metal gets extremely hot so don't just go grabbing it!

Thanx all I will have to get on over to Ace hardware. I love that store.
