Acorn squash
Meat
Posts: 233
Getting ready to cook up some flattened and rolled pork chops. A couple with muenster cheese and sun dried tomatoes and a few with marinated apples. Along with that is an acorn squash split in half. Any suggestions on how to cook the squash. My current set-up is regular grid on the fire ring. Thanks, Joe.
Rick's Tropical Delight, if you read this, I've had to grill pineapple with every meal so far. Maryanna, and everyone else for that matter, loves it.

Indirect. 350
Score the meat of the squash that has been cut in half from top to bottom seeds removed.
Put a nice dollup of butter in the cavity and sprinkle generously with brown sugar. Bake till tender. -
Maple syrup works also. 350F 45 minutes apprx. works for me.

Celtic Wolf, I just got my Egg at Waldorf so I'm still in the learning curve. Do you suggest platesetter with the legs up and grid on top of that? I guess both the chops and the squash can go on at the same time? What do you suggest for temp and time for both?

was just about to mention maple syrup until I saw you already had it covered!
The dark amber kind. Yeah! Molasses might not be bad either in mild quantities.
Cheers

Legs are up unless you are baking pizza's or bread.

Did the package arrive?

If I could I would use a combo of Brown Sugar and Maple Syrup or Brown Sugar and Molasses, but alas I am not allowed to have that delicacy anymore.. :(
Go light on the Molasses!! -
Leg's up it is. I think there's a joke in there somewhere. Thanks.

Does this fit the program?

Richard you obviously have not been paying attention when I am cooking sweet stuff.
It's the Maple Syrup and Molasses I can't have.. -
I needed some maple syrup to make sauce for tonights ribs so I went to the grocery store bright and early only to find they now think that a quart of that stuff is worth $17.99 :woohoo: Plan B for me.

How can I pay attention when I am overcome by the EGGtastic dishes you have shared over the last few fests.

Good maple syrup is worth that kinda money.
A little goes a long way, and you can refrigerate it and it will last quite a while. Think of it like 50 cents for each time you use it!
Cheers!

Hmm. I see. No problem. We all gotta adjust.
Okay, well how about something malty without the sugar??
Coffee?? Mix coffee with splenda and something else, and you could be onto something!
Let us know what you do. Enjoy!

I would do the squash and then foil it to keep it warm and then remove the plate setter and do the pork chops. Or just do the prok chops on the small while the squash is on the large :0
