Hopefully Q-Babe will chime in here.

She IS a weight watchers success story and she cooks on the EGG all the time.

There are so many ways that WW fits with the EGG it is crazy.

Off the top of my head shrimp coated with Old Bay seasoning is a good one on the EGG. Salmon or chicken or just about any lean meat is awesome for WW and is excellent on the EGG.
  • That's a great question!
Truth be told, I think there's lots of things you can cook on the Egg that are good for eating healthy and/or losing weight. It's the preparation that is either good for you or not.

I would be very interestd to hear what Q-babe has to say.

I just try to stay clear of the bacon wrapped bacon recipes.

My 13 y.o. daughter has lost 9 lbs in the past 10 weeks (she's about halfway to her goal!) and I usually cook on the Egg 2-3 times a week.

The trick to this is moderation and common sense.

As Bobby said all the lean cuts of meat and fish do well on the egg. Veggie's grilled or sauteed with Olive Oil instead of Butter.

Stay away from most of the desserts cooked on the egg. Cook Sweet Taters instead of White Taters.

Use the Weight Watcher menu and adapt them to the egg. i.e. If the recipe calls for a 350 degree oven bake, bump it up to 375 and bake it the same way on the egg.

I haven't found to may recipes I haven't been able to adapt to my eggs.

Course Pork and Brisket may have to severely moderated, but you can egg and lose weight too.

    Bob,
Glad to hear of your daughter's success. I have often wondered if that family crisis was diverted.

breasts instead of thighs, trimmed of excess fat. or skinless and a little olive oil on the veggies. thanks to azrp this is a highly adaptable technique, easy clean up and the priceless part "dad make that chicken again. it was perfect"

Like RRP said best wishes for your daughters success. Most of my cooks for the wife are boneless/ skinless chicken or fish but for me weight watchers means time till done vs chefs libations to be consumed. Tilapia is a great fish you can do alot with.
    Best Wishes

  • Yeah, Thanks Ron and Pat! She's doing very well. She's doing a fair amount of it on her own too.

Meanwhile, Mom ain't complaining and I think she's found some clothes that used to fit, then didn't, now do again. Which is always good!

I concur, but not for the pics, for safety.

Just tonight I was searing some steaks on the large - it pre-dates the spark screen - and a small little piece of lump fell out, slightly larger than a grain of rice. Barefoot I stepped on it, and now I have a nice white crusty burn on the ball of my left foot.

Note to self - wear shoes when grilling and go to mothership to get large spark screen to install.

That's a bunch of crap I just read on that site. There is absolutely no sound evidence that supports any of those answers

    Hi Bob,

You can do SO many things that are WW friendly on the egg, it's impossible to name them all. I lost 61 lbs and have maintained that cooking with my eggs.

As Bobby said, the key is moderation. We eat better now than we ever have and I'm not just talking skinkess chicken breast, either (in fact, that's seldom on our menu). Experiment with new and different foods, herbs and spices. Learn to incorporate your favorite things into your plan so you don't feel deprived. Learn how to lighten recipes without giving them up and finding accepptable substitutes for high calorie/fat dishes. You can do SO many things....pork, beef, chicken, fish, seafood, veggies, pizza, desserts, appetizers...it just goes on and on.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to join a WW meeting and don't just try to do it yourself. You'll be more successful, get good information, and you'll learn how others are incorporating eating healthier without feeling deprived into their own personal lifestyles.
