Are smoke pellets (I bought some Jack Daniels ones yesterday) good to use in the BGE?[p]Just curious, I could not find anything about them in the Archives.

I have never tried the pellets. I usually use wood chunks or chips. With that said.. I don't see why not to use them. Nothing like the taste of some good smoke.

I used to use them until I found another source for wood chips and chunks. In order to control the pellets I made this "puck".

I just cut the bottoms off two beer cans, and punched holes in them. Bend or cut some darts in one side so it will fit inside the other. The bent nail made it easier to pull them apart to refill. I would get my fire going and then just toss the "puck" into the center and away it would go with smoke. That puck has been used many times over the years.

  • I have used them in a pouch of doubled up aluminum foil. Punch a couple of small holes in the top and throw it on the fire. Works fine. Just toss the pouch when your through and the fire has cooled down.
