North Carolina BBQ
Heading for New Bern, Belhaven, Nags Head and Wilmington, N.C. in April. Any suggestions as to good commercial or regional BBQ in those areas is appreciated. I will then do my own taste test comparisons when I fire up the egg at home. Presently minus 11, so I think I will only view the egg out the window.

ORV,
He man, you are in Eastern NC. Almost any place you see a sign that says "BBQ" will be good.[p]You might try the New Forum as more answers will likely be posted there than on the Old Forum where you posted this.

ORV,[p]Not sure how far west of New Bern you're going to get but here's a NC BBQ Trail map.[p]If you're going down Hwy 17, there's a stop in Greeneville. Got to stop at the Skylight Inn in Ayden too. I like Wilbers here in Goldsboro on Hwy 70 too, if you make it this far west.

ORV,[p] People ask me where the best BBQ in NC is and I usually tell them in my backyard. It's not mine. My father-in-law makes some killer BBQ.[p] As for the places you are visiting. Wilbur's in Goldsboro is on top. While you are on US 70 try King's. Now keep in mind their BBQ is whole hog and the sauce is vinegar based. [p] Like Morro Bay Rich said any joint that say BBQ will be decent. Stay away from the chain's (Smithfield's). If you smell smoke when you open your car door you should be OK>[p] Also BBQ here is a NOUN and it means Pulled (chopped) Pork. Chicken and Beef is BARBECUE..[p] Enjoy!![p]
