Fire Ring Height in older egg

I lucked into a large egg at an estate sale (I know they weren't an authorized dealer - but at least I didn't buy it off the internet!)

When trying to use a new accessory, I had dome clearance issues. It appears that my fire ring may be taller than those used in the modern eggs (4.5 inches).

I'm wondering if I can solve my problem by just buying a replacement fire ring. Could someone measure the height of their fire ring.

Are there any other issues with an older egg that I should be aware of? My cookbook had a 1996 copyright.

Thanks for your assistance
