There's a "search" feature in the upper right corner, Hilo. If you can remember a keyword, you can probably find the thread.

I have firefox and got the the cool irus plug in. Someone here gave the info on it. I'm still getting used to it, but it is much better with it.
  • I wish it were that easy - I haven't had a bit of luck yet with searching.

i tried the search. i typed in reading treads forever.. and one of the hits was Dr. bbq's favorite burger. i tryed other searches and Dr.bbq came up i most of them.. nothing to do with the search.. i also have firefox and would like to try that plug in how do i get it...
  • not sure if this answers your question or if i understood correctly [but who cares, wings are on the egg and i just opened the wine] ...BUT.. there is a feature that will send you an e-mail everytime someone replies to your question. i will find it [maybe] and post. i used it once.

then again i am an idiot. scroll down from the "post a reply' field, which is where i am typing now...see subscribe click the little box and it will notify you.

You can choose the options to have the replies to a thread emailed to you when you make the original post starting the thread.

Hey Hiloboy, putting your name and avatar together, I'd guess you're in Hilo, Hawaii! Ok, no on ever said my deduction skills were brilliant....
Your profile says you are a hand engraver and scrimshaw artist. Very cool. Do you have any photos of your work or maybe a website to view? I'd love to see some examples of your work. Thanks!

    sure...

    get the FasterFox extension..

After you install FasterFox, go into its options and select
"Turbocharged." But --- you're not through yet. That's really too
aggressive, and does some things that may actually slow you down.

Next, set it to "Custom," then go through it and try these settings:

    Enable enhanced prefetching: YES
Enable page load timer: OPTIONAL (Does nothing to improve performance,
but gives you a way to objectively measure the effect of changes you
    make.)

Memory cache capacity: 65536 (the default value)
Disk cache capacity: 50000 (less than the 76800 default value, which
is so large that it will actually slow you down if you don't reduce it.)

DNS Cache Expiration: 3600 (the default value)
DNS Cache Entries: 512 (the default value)

    HTTP Connection Preferences:
    Max Connections: 20
    Max Connections Per Server: 24
Max Persistent Connections Per Server: 3
Max Persistent Connections Per Proxy: 6

    HTTP Pipelining Preferences:
    Enable Pipelining: YES
Enable Pipelining of First Request: YES
    Enable Proxy Pipelining: YES
    Max Pipelining Requests: 3

    Enable FastBack: YES
    Pages in memory: 5

    Rendering Preferences:
    Initial Paint Delay: 0
    Submenu Delay: 50

    Popup Preferences:
    Disable Popups from Plugins: YES
