Rusty Daisy Wheel
Egg-N-Tino
Posts: 157
Closed up the egg for about a week, went out today to prep for a cook and see that my daisy wheel top has changed colors. It is a nice rusty orange. I am cooking with it, but was wondering what, if anything, I can do to get it back in original condition.?[p]Thanx,

I cured mine with crisco like a cast iron frying pan. Looks great. But, the rust won't hurt anything.

Egg-N-Tino,
You can reseason it using some cooking oil and firing it in your egg or oven at 400+ degrees for an hour of more. [p]Next time shut down the egg using the ceramic top and put you daisy in the hot egg. Once cooled cover as normal but leave daisy inside. [p]Mike

Like DG stated, wire brush all the rust off, rub it with a heavy coat of crisco, and put it in a 450* egg for an hour or so.
Always put it inside the egg when done cooking while the egg is still hot and cover the top vent with the ceramic rain cap. -
29 seconds.....sigh

Egg-N-Tino,[p]After following Mike's advice, make sure you again put veg. oil on the entire top damper.[p]Once in a while put a small amount of veg. oil on the moving parts of the top damper.

Have the same problem with my 2'nd egg. Guess I need to stop playing favorites or do more cooking. Usually have to burn the mold out of the step egg (what a waste of good lump). Guess just have to cook more.

 Now there you go again. See I read the threads here and learned something I didn't know. I appreciate the great suggestions. Thanks all.

Thanks, but my boys (also Tigers) played New Years Day and won in a rout.
Here's to your Tigers.... -
I saw your Tigers put a hurtin on Hawaii. I think Colt Brennan is still in a lot of pain. Hey WAC welcome to the SEC.

Brother, my Tigers kicked some Razorback butt. I may live in Georgia now, but my heart is in Mizzou.
I was born and raised in NWMO, about an hour north of Kansas City. Mizzou boy out of High School. Settled in Georgia after I got out of the service - my wife is a true Southern Belle.
I agree with your assessment of the WAC in the Sugar Bowl. They got whooped. -
Sorry about the confusion. I thought Tigers = Auburn. Who didn't even play in the Sugar Bowl. Glad your Tigers won.
