[p]egg-washed oysters with cracker crumb breading fried up in the bacon grease[p]
[p]eggs & a little milk whisked together then sprinkled with parsley and dizzy pig swamp venom[p]
[p]when the egg starts to set, plop in a few oysters and stick in some bacon pieces...[p]
[p]pull when the egg sets and serve with mrs. dog's dangerously hot pepper sauce and fresh horseradish![p]

Rick's Tropical Delight,
Looks good. Where did you get that niffty little muffin holder your egg is in.

I'm Rick's cardiologist, and I approve this message.

Seriously, these look great. Nice pics, as always. -

Sounds like a good deal for you and your bar owner friend. When does the restaurant open?
-
he has a restaurant attached to the bar too!
as soon as they let me retire... which is not soon enuf :P -
i'm gonna have to take a few extra laps at the mall and pop a few more lipitors after that meal!
-
When I retire, then, I'm headin' your way. You plannin' on being around in 35 years?
-
not if i keep eatin like this! :woohoo:
-
Just keep adding to your laps around the mall. You'll make it.
-
You are reminding me of that Bud Light commercial.

hahaa :P
that pizza looked better than it tasted -
Rick's Tropical Delight, that looks great. For a little historical (hysterical?) background, here in northern California, the town now known as Placerville, was once called Hangtown, due to the wild outlaws and strict sheriff. You can get Hangtown Fry in most restaurants, and some have a story about the beginnings of the dish. One version is that, as a request for a last meal before the hemp necktie, a condememed man asked for fresh eggs scrambled with oysters. This was an extravagent thing, since it was a couple days boat and stage journey up from San Francisco Bay. His ploy was to delay meeting his maker. Evidentially, the dish lasted longer than he did.
Hope you enjoyed it. Great fun for me to see a regional dish cooked on the egg in DC. Have a Happy New Year.

Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]Looks great.[p]That cast iron pan seems to be a perfect fit. What size is it? Did you find a handless one, or cut the handle off?[p]Thanks,[p]Dave

<p />Davekatz,

hey thanks...[p]that's the 15 1/4" lodge cast iron skillet with the handle cut off and then the nub ground smooth on the bench grinder. a perfect fit in the large egg.

East Bay Al,
thanks! that's a story i hadn't read, but it makes sense. someone posted about that recipe on here awhile ago, and i did a little searching on the net, and came up with my version. i wasn't sure how it would turn out, but i'll be making that one again
