Has anyone cooked Scotch Eggs on the BGE rather than putting them in a deep fryer? I'm sure it would take longer, but wouldn't it be better than working with the oil?

Wasted Words,
ive done it, you need searing hot temps to get them to crisp up abit, a light coating of oil and some bread crums on the outside of the sausage. the butcher near me does them at 550, but crank it up to 750 with a stone works better

fishlessman,[p]I'm guessing you just sit them on end on the grate?
Thanks for the help.

they are a hard boiled egg, wrapped in sausage, rolled in bread crumbs, and usually deepfried. they are delicous. this one is from the butcher shop down the street from me, he makes them daily for breakfast

fishlessman,
Looks good....never heard of them before. Can you buy breadcrumbs in the grocery store? How long/what temp would you cook these on the egg??

GenesGrill,
750 til crispy. these are normally a deep fried item, but some just bake them, my butchers ovens are somewhere around 500/550, but hotter is better. if you search google there are some recipes, usually with a breakfast style sausage, helps to put flour on the egg then wrag to get things to stick.

Wasted Words, I double a fattie recipe and place 4 hardboiled eggs inside. Works for me. "More Healthful"

fishlessman,
Thanks, they look great. I believe I'll produce these for breakfast on T-Day.
