Using inverted v rack for ribs
docison
Posts: 2
Just got my BGE and am going to try ribs today.Do I simply lay the slabs(3) across the v rack or cut them in half and try to stand them on end.Any help or other tips would be greatly appreciated.

docison,[p]If you have a large egg, the three ribs should fit nicely lined up parallel in your inverted rack. Otherwise, just cook them right on the grill without a rack. In my medium egg it's a little tight, but they can be folded on the ends to fit. Good luck

docison,[p]Cut them as needed so they don't rub again the dome as they suposed to stand on end when using that v-rack inverted. Some recommend NOT cutting the meat for juice/retention purposes, and other various reasons. Which would you eat, freshly cut ribs, cooked together, or each 'rib' cut and cooked seperately?[p]If you can, just keep the slab together, and if the are too long, try to 'wrap them' in a U-shaped pattern to fit the grid.[p]Keep in mind that you don't have to use the v-rack. You can simply throw them on grid, flat, then flip 'em.[p]I'm still a newbie, so these are just my recommendations...[p]-Jeeves

docison,[p]I would highly recommend NOT cutting the ribs if at all possible. If you have 3 slabs or less you can easily do them right on the grate and not worry with the v-rack. Otherwise, just bend them so they all fit in the rack.[p]Either way you're in for a great lunch/dinner. Enjoy!

docison,

i started these in a v-rack, then went to two grids laying flat.

Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]Now THAT's production! Great looking food. What does the top rack rest on? I can't make out anything on the lower rack that would receive the top rack. Do they just rest on each other?

DynaGreaseball,

thanks, mon!
the grid on the bottom has two handles that hold the top grip off the ribs... i switched their positions for a bit and just laid the one with the handles on top of the ribs on the bottom rack, then i switched it back. these had some apple juice squirted on them then blues hog bbq sauce at the end.

Thanks for the replys.Laid the slabs flat on the grill.Only hope mine turn out as good as those two pics look.
