Help with spring lift assist

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I am a BGE newbie and in need of some assistance. I just purchased a pre-owned BGE. The good news its its never been cooked in, the bad news is the spring assist does not seem to work properly. [p]Issue: When I open the grill am not able to let go of the handle without the top closing. Any idea on what the problem could be. Although it has never been cooked in - I think it may be several years old. [p]

racer x,[p]There have been several hinge designes over the past several years so a pic of which you are using would be useful. If it is the older one then you have to pull the hinges forward manually. Everything beyond that is all over the place. Could be anything from a missing spring to a broken lock hinge.

    BYC,
Check earlier post today about dome not lineing up correctly with the bottom. One thing I noticed was that the bolts that hold the hinge parts in place were all slightly loose. Had the same thing happen after re-aligining the parts and I just tightined the hinge bolts all down slightly. Too much tightining and it will be hard to open.
