help on refuting grilling causes cancer

nodock,
can you post a link to this article? id like to read it. thanks
-
nodock,
I've long read that eating bbq'd food can increase chances for cancer. I don't have anything to refute it and I do think about it from time to time.[p]But honestly, nearly everything in our environment these days can be linked to increase in cancers and other diseases. Just walking outside and breathing in the air that's been fouled with automobiles and factory smoke is probably not a whole lot healthier than bbq smoke.[p]I would certainly argue that people who buy things premade from the grocery store (and that would include pretty much anything other than fresh --- organic -- produce/herbs, grains, spices, dairy and meat/poultry/fish) are at a much higher risk than people who are buying meat and grilling it. The stuff they put in food these days is downright frightening and I constantly wonder why I'm the only person who knows this and cares![p]Gwen

with all the preservatives/enhacers in food, grilling is only a minor problem, as long as don't start eating Charred (burnt) meat.
everything that we eat or do should be done in moderation and you should be ok

nodock,
here is a link that discusses this question... googling "PAH" and "HCA" will probably give a lot of hits...seems moderation is, as always, good advice...

nodock,
..... and water will kill you if you drink too much of it.

nodock,
My father-in-law is 93 and my Dad is 92; they are both still alive after eating bar-be-que in South Alabama all of their lives. I am 68 and have just built a house myself. None of us have cancer; we still eat smoked and grilled meat. My Dad still eats hot dogs, fried liver, bologna; you name it.
It's in your genes; if your family has a history of cancer, then be careful.
I do read the labels now and avoid food from China and other foreign countries. It's so easy to grow your own vegetables; even in a container!
I just smoked a turkey breast and a chicken; it was great!!
Just eat your veggies, exercise have a cool one once in a while, smile and enjoy your family and life!
