<p />The "all things in moderation rule" still applies here...but,[p]Pass The Butter . please!!

This is interesting . . . . .

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.
It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.
DO YOUKNOW... the difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.
Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine..
Very high in Trans fatty acids.
Triple risk of coronary heart disease.
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and
Lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.
Lowers quality of breast milk.
Decreases immune response.
Decreases insulin response.
And here's the most disturbing fact....

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC.. This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine, and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself: Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)
* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast? Share This With Your Friends..... (If you want to "butter them up")![p]Chubby

I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!

Morro Bay Rich,[p]Really!![p]My point here is that butter...(in modertation) is better for you than loading your body up with chemicals.[p]Yes...now,there are some margerines that are better for you ....[p]but really...tell that to a cow!![p]Evans

  • Chubby, I've been following the trans-fat issue for years and completely eliminated anything containing it from my diet back then. When you start reading labels you'll be surprised where it's lurking (and yes, you may have to bring a magnifying glass to the supermarket)! Recently, Nabisco removed it from Oreo cookies. Lipton's onion soup mix and Stouffers creamed spinach were crossed off my shopping list. Haven't checked recently but both contained the dreaded, hydrogenated oil at one time. Kellogs introduced a new breakfast cereal called "Smart Start" a few years ago and guess what it contained? Yep, the infernal, oil! Check out a snack stand and you'll probably find that the only products free of it are peanuts, pastachios, etc. Most baked goods; cakes, cookies etc. are also contaminated. No wonder we're a populace ridden with health problems! Wonder why the FDA won't ban this stuff... Probably a big $$$$ issue! BTW, I quit smoking two & a half years ago using a procedure that took all of 15 minutes and cost 160 bucks. Haven't touched a cig since (I was a long-time, heavy smoker) and haven't had any urge to. If anyone is interested in hearing about it I'll gladly share the details. Gotta go make some pig candy! Happy Wednesday! And what the heck is Woosday? 8 - )[p]Rascal[p]

there's a hypnitherapist that has been working boston for years. those who have gone to him and who have quit, swear by him.[p]funny thing is, those that go to him and for whom it DIDN'T work, usually don't bring it up![p]i think he is $400 bucks for 15 minutes. crazy.

    Rascal,
I knew someone who quit the hypnotherapist way. An older skinny dude about 60 yrs old, and smoked close to 50 of those yrs. It actually worked for him, except he put on a huge belly. When he smoked he never finished a simple white bread sandwich, but when he quit smoking he was hoping you wouldnt finish yours!
