Anyone ever done breakfast for dinner on the Egg? Thinking of using my cast iron skillet tomorrow night.

    Car Wash Mike,
That's looks like a good dish for you to do in Omaha. It must be the winning entry. Cheryl

    dunno,
It was my first try. Egg about 500, put cast iron skillet in, do the water test. Drop a bit of water on, if it sizzles, good to go. Have toast ready to go. As far as times. What do you do inside? Like I said first try. Let me know, especailly if you cook something better. Which may not be hard.[p]Mike

    KS Cheryl,
I knew you were out there lurking. LOL[p]Mike

  • Car Wash Mike,
Couldn't tell you what I do inside on french toast as my oven hasn't been turned on since I got the Egg!!!!! If it goes in the oven it goes on my Egg. I am thinking of doing your french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and tator tots. Crazy right? I am consumed with the Egg. Only 1 month in. Enjoy your pics and advise. How long how you been an Egg owner?

    dunno,
I always cooked French Toast on a skillet inside, not the oven.
    Cherry wood Bacon is easy.

I don't think you can cook all in 1 large and be ready, but I think with proper planning you can do fine.[p]How old is dirt?[p]Headed out for a few hours. E-mail if you need more help.[p]Mike

    dunno,
Here's my version of the Denny's breakfast which, by the way, is served 24/7.[p]BaconEggSausageonGriddle.jpg[p]I also do either French Toast or Pancakes to go with this. Tastes great.[p]Spring "Egg On Egg" Chicken

Hmmm.....I will be needing two eggs over easy, some hashbrowns (crispy) and one link of sausage.[p]Oh, and a slice of sourdough bread - buttered of course.[p]When can I pick it up?[p]:)[p]How hot does the egg need to be to get the pan hot enough to cook breakfast? I wanna try that!

    dunno,
This is probably not what you had in mind, but it sure was good! I made Eggs Benedict and the part that involved the BGE is that I used a smoked fattie in place of the Canadian Bacon. YUM!![p]07-07-07EggsBenedictwithaFattie.jpg

    AlaskanC,
Glad it tickled your tastebuds. Breakfast is very good and easy to make. And, of course, it's done on the Egg which makes it fun too. It's perfect for an early morning while camping in the woods.[p]How about some pancakes instead of sourdough bread? Or grilled toast? Or even French Toast? All good.[p]PancakesEggandbaconongriddle.jpg[p]By the way, that's turkey bacon and turkey sausage you see in the photos. The "grease" is regular Pam spray. Turkey is very flavorful and great for someone with the "tock" knocked out of their "ticker."[p]As for setup and temps. Direct on a cast iron griddle or pan with the fire tuned to what it would be at around 350° to 400° direct. [p]If you are cooking real bacon you might want to keep a close eye on the grease catching fire. It's probably not a pretty sight.[p]And how about this as an option? A Waffle... But not just any waffle. This is TEXAS you know.[p]MVC-552S.jpg[p]No, it wasn't cooked on the Egg but I'm working on it.[p]Oh yea, want something that is verrrry easy but tastes good? Pop open some canned biscuits and put 'em on raised pizza stone or griddle or pan indirect. Kick it up to about 500°. Eggcellent.[p]BisketsonEgg.jpg[p]Or you can make the "drop biscuits" from the package. Just add water, stir and spoon onto the griddle or pizza stone or pan. [p]Breakfast on the Egg should be done with your favorite Bloody Mary concoction. It's the law (somewhere). Is around here.[p]Spring "Baking Away In Margaritaville" Chicken

Leroy - I am sitting here having my first Diet Coke of the day (7:37 am here), and my stomach is growling while looking at all that food you posted!! I have got to find an Alaska waffle iron (doubt they make one).[p]You are definitely going to be the camp cook when you make it up here!!

    BobS,
that is such a great idea!! I love eggs benedict, and Brent loves fatties, so it would be a double winner in our house!!

    AlaskanC,
I should warn you that I get up early and cook breakfast before the sun comes up. But it's my favorite meal to cook so I'll gladly take on the job.[p]Can't wait to get up there. I've already started my Alaska Travel Account. Bought some Lottery Tickets. Right now the Account is a wee bit in the red but I have faith in the system. The governator said the Lottery would make us all rich.[p]See you when we get there.[p]Spring "Northbound And Down With A Thin Wallet" Chicken
