Ted,[p]Might this be the one? Or are you looking for the one with the apples in them?[p]Beans, Navy, BBQ, Ronbo's
I think this is a really great bean recipe that can still be built on with your own preferences. One thing to note is that I like it with LOTS of hickory smoke. These are one of the few things that I believe just can not get enough smoke
[p]Ingredients:
5 cup Water
1 lb Dry Navy Beans
1 Vidalia onion – chopped up
1 1/2 cup your favorite ketchup
1/4 cup Pure Molasses
1 1/2 tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper (the amount is totally your call)
1 Tbs dry mustard
1 Tbs fine sea salt
1 tsp ground pepper (I also add touches of some during the cook as well)
6 Slices of Bacon or Salt Pork cut into cubes
Preparation Directions:
1 Drain and rinse beans. Add beans to a pot and about 5 cups of water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour. Cook cubed Bacon in Dutch oven on the stove. Add beans, water that you simmered them in, and all the ingredients above into Dutch oven. Gently mix it up.
Cooking Directions:
1 Add Hickory Chunks to an established 275-300 degree egg using a platesetter and grill. Add Dutch oven uncovered for 3.5 to 4 hours gently stirring every 30 minutes or so.
2 Remove from grill and put lid on Dutch oven and let it sit for 30 minutes. Stir and enjoy.

<p />Richard,[p]Okay, I carefully read through your whole post so I wouldn't duplicate anything. LOL[p]Here is Keri C's Hog Apple Beans. Might as well put this one in your database. It's a keeper.[p]Keri's Hog-Apple Baked Beans[p]3 or 4 slices bacon, diced

2 (16 oz) cans pork and beans, mostly drained (modified to 2 28-oz cans Bush's Baked Beans - see note below)
1/2 c. Blues Hog BBQ Sauce (or other sweet-spicy favorite)
1 lb. smoked leftover smoked pork or beef, more or less, or 1 lb crumbled cooked pork sausage
1 can apple pie filling
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. Mustard (prepared)
1 tsp chipotle or cayenne powder (optional, to taste*)
1 tsp Blues Hog barbecue rub (or your favorite de jour)[p]Brown bacon, and saute onion and green pepper in bacon grease. Mix in remaining ingredients. Bake at 325º for 1 hour, or simmer on stovetop in large pot for 30 minutes if you don't have time to do them in the oven. Serves 12.[p]This recipe began life as APPLE PIE BAKED BEANS from somewhere on the web, but I think I've made enough changes to it now to claim it as my own. This is my standard for baked beans anymore.[p]*This is a rather spicy recipe due to the chipotle/cayenne powder. Feel free to leave it out if you'll be feeding those who prefer a less spicy taste.[p]Keri C, smokin' on Tulsa Time[p]
