We are getting ready to buy an egg. We cook for large number of people for parties and family functions. If we get the XL size can we still use it for just the 2 of us without wasting charcoal or having any problem cooking small amount in XL egg?

Sandy,[p] Do you plan on cooking for 50+ people on a regular basis?[p]What do you call a large number? When my family gets together I typically have to cook for 20-25 people. My large has proven it's worth for that number of people.[p]Just so you know I have two XL's, Two Large Eggs and a small. The large and the small are used the most.[p]In fact they are fired up right now.. Rib Eye and Baked Potato Yumm...

  • Sandy,[p]Get a Large - lots of accessories - can cook for about 50 people. If you're catering get an XL.[p]-Snap
  • Sandy,
I'm new to the EGG, but I have a medium and wished I bought a large.

    Sandy,
Get the "Large", period!! Perfect for two, perfect for 20......BTW, we sell more of this size than all the others put together......It's the "perfect" size BGE for all the right reasons........

  • Sandy,[p]I have an XL, wish I had read more of the forum before purchasing, wish I had a large now. Uses a lot more fuel than necessary for a few people. If I had seen how versatile the large was that was what I would have got. But, I still love my XL, it was just a waste of money and more money with charcoal.

    eat-bb,
I'm just curious if anyone has tried using a charcoal ring/charcoal basket to hold charcoal for a small fire when using the XL for a small cook? When I first saw Drbbq use one in Waldorf, he had a ring of iron that I thought he said he got from a scrap yard or something. It was about 12-14" in diameter and he piled the charcoal in the ring to make the smaller fire.[p]TNW[p]

    Sandy,.
I have a Large & Small BGE cooking for Two adults and 1 toddler and adding a new addition in July. I recommend the Large. My Bachelor brother has a medium... My retired MOM & POP own a Medium too! My sister and her husband have two kids and own a large. Everyone Loves their eggs... if I could only have one egg it would be the large hands down. The food is egg-cellent off any of the eggs you won't be disappointed unless you miss the taste of lighter fluid.[p]Regards, Pharmeggist
P.S. My mom and Dad wish they had a large when they have family get togethers... it takes a couple of cooks on the medium to feed the crowd if you know what I mean.
