Round Griddle

Looking for a round griddle to place in the egg (or other bbq device as needed)... so obviously something without the bit handle. I heard that weber used to make one for their kettle, but I believe they discontinued it. Anyone have any suggestions?

SirKeats,
Weber did make one that i used, but it was for their 22 inch grill.I dont think they madse one for the 18 inch grill.Lodge makes a rectangular one and you might be able to put two side by side.I am at work or I would check the dimensions for you.One side is flat and the other has ridges.

SirKeats,
I bought one from Bayou Classic....it's about 16 inches around with handles,I took it to a welder and he used a saw to cut them off then I seasoned it. Works great for 20 bucks including shipping.

SirKeats,
Here's mine on my large Egg. It is setting on my wok ring but could easily set on a regular grid or even a plate setter.[p]
[p]It has a ridged surface on the other side for searing with lines and above the grease. This one is similar but I believe smaller than mine. I don't know who makes it.[p]
[p]Mine is an off brand but works well. I got mine here in the Houston area for about $10 at Academy Sports Stores. I'm sure someone in your area has something similar.[p]It's a great accessory to have.[p]Spring "Deep In The Ring Of Fire" Chicken

SirKeats,
What does it take to season cast iron... I hear this term used alot

SirKeats,
ive been using the 15 inch soapstone in the large for about 5 or 6 years, the copper is black and annealed to very soft and it cracked a few years back, but worcks fine still. i use it as a griddle on the top side and for pizza i flip it over. i have a smaller one i use in the small, these griddles are also used as a platesetter for low and slows as i never did buy a platesetter. as a side note, a 12 inch lodge fry pan fits in the large with the handle and i use that alot as well.

BbqKid,[p] Best to do this in your egg. Get the egg up to 400-450 indirect with drip pan. Completely coat the cast iron inside and out with lard, bacon grease, Crisco or oil (in order of preference). Place the cast iron on the grate upside down. Bake till all the grease is burnt off. The pot should be black and shiny. Let the pot and the egg cool off together. Repeat as necessary.[p]

RRP,[p]Thanks for the tip! What did you use to cut the handle off?

SirKeats,
Lodge makes a cast iron pizza pan that works fine as a griddle. I think it's 15 inches across plus the loop handles. It fits fine in the large.[p]Paul

<p />Spring Chicken, it is a bayou classic 14 inch round. Cut the handles off mine to sit on the spider, great for searing. Other side has the raised lines.

SirKeats,
metal cutting blade in a SawsAll, then a bench grinder to take down more and finished off with a hand file. Really not that much effort for a great lifetime utensil!

BbqKid,
Most cast iron folks (myself included) are of the opinion that Lodge makes the best.
That being said, almost all of their stuff is available pre-seasoned and if there is an option it's only a couple of bucks more which most folks are willing to pay especially if they were seasoning indoors. The smell almost always causes spousal disapproval.
