OT- Looking For Water Dispenser Recommendations

I'm thinking about picking up a water dispenser and wanted to see if anyone has any experience with them and a brand they would recommend? I prefer the look of the ones with the storage tank below. Hot and cold would be a plus.

I have a natural spring a few miles down from my house where a water cooler would be beneficial. (The city water tastes like a swimming pool with all the chlorine they add to it.) I'm also putting together a Sodastream with a 5lb CO2 tank that I'll use for carbonated water. So a water dispenser should be a good fit for what I'd use it for.

Just curious what others are using. Thanks!

I have learned to drink from the tap.

My old place was on a well and the water tasted amazing.  Had one of the high dollar water filtration people come and try to sell me a system.  Did a water test and when we reviewed the results he said “well, I can’t really help you.  Your water is almost perfect”.

The city water is meh, but I already pay for it.  Figure if the government says it’s safe, it must be. 🤣🤦🏼💁

I'm the same way. I grew up on well water and share the same opinion. My parents water is so much better than my city water. The water at my house literally tastes like you're drinking from a pool. My main reason is looking to make the switch is using the Sodastream. Since I have a fresh water spring a few miles down the road it will keep everything pretty basic rather than running a filter system. The other bonus is that the water dispenser will have hot/cold at the touch of a button. My thought anyway.

Are you looking for a filtration system, or one of the ones with jugs and you will fill up down the road and bring it home?

I bought a few for the barn and they were like $150 or so and survived the AZ heat and cold while sitting outside.  They worked well.  If you don’t need filtration I would just get whatever one you think looks nice enough and gives hot/cold water.  Got them off Amazon.

I don't think I'll need any filtration system. The city has the water tested monthly. So I'm just looking for something somewhat basic that can do hot and cold .

Ah, that is awesome!! I would just get a cheapie one and see how much you like/use it.  If it gets used a ton and you want something better then upgrade.  It seems most the higher priced ones are for bells/whisltes/badges/looks and not so much function.

they closed all the springs around me. older people getting robbed, then after 9/11 for terrorist attacks. atleast 3 springs and they also covered a beautiful reservoir to stop access

Here we call those “water coolers!” :)

… after making a heckuva mess so many times, I’d recommend getting one that you set the bottle inside the base on the floor.

Wish my city had a public spring like that that’s amazing..

make sure its easy to clean, if they get unplugged for a length of time the water will go green. had one at work and an employee would unplug it for room temp water, then complain when the water went green. idiot

bottle on top is easier to clean

we have had this one for my team since 2021 or so. works well, no issues. bottle on bottom, cover slides up for access. runs hot and cold.
