OT - Cooking pizza with the Frigidaire Gallery Induction Range

Our son and D-I-L invited us to try making pizza in their new kitchen box. I was skeptical about the 750F pizza cook, worried about how hot the exterior could get and if it can make decent pies in two minutes.
For starters, after the 30 min preheat, the side of oven was about 105F, door front was under 90F, my regular oven felt hotter outside when baking sour dough bread. When I opened the door there was no rush of hot steamy air in my face. Apparently it draws fresh air through the door and discharges at the rear vent to keep the exterior cool. The stone scanned at 750F+
Two little ones had fun helping, the youngest put more toppings in her mouth than on the pies 😂, priceless. Made six pies, each took exactly the preset two minutes, zero turning, preset three minutes to recuperate between pies. Here are the results...

Super impressed, all this in the comfort of the kitchen.
P.S. I'm not compensated for this review, just wanted to share my first impressions.

Pretty impressive unit. Didn’t know such an oven existed. Regardless of the method employed, your pies always look spot on.

Those pies look delicious 😋Greensboro North Carolina

@GrateEggspectations It was launched in August of this year and heavily promoted lately.

It can go as low as 100F and run the whole gamut...bread proofing, dehydrating, slow cook, air sous vide, air fry, neopolitan pizza. It may be too early but down the road if it holds up, I may end up selling my Adore pizza oven and our 1yo induction range and get this 😂 No pizza cooking in bad/cold weather and no propane tank to lug, pizza comes out at par or even better than the Adore's.canuckland -
We have an earlier model of that range and love it.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

@OhioEgger Good to hear, we can use some pointers if you have any to share.

@alaskanassasin Yes, we shall see how long I can resist 😂
Two interesting features with the pizza cook, one good and one bad.
The bad:
After cooking a pie, there are two options - continue or cancel. Hit continue and it starts the preset 3-min recuperation for the next pie. No bueno If you select cancel inadvertently...you're forced to wait the entire preset 30-min initial preheat cycle before you can cook again, regardless of the screaming ambient and stone temps! It has no knowledge of the stone temp, a builtin scanner can help but that's another can of worms. I'm not sure if there is a user workaround.
The good:
The 2-minute preset cook time was perfect for my first try, the broiler element is programmed to be off for the initial 1.5 minutes, on for the final 30 seconds. In contrast, with my propane oven I turn down the flame just before launching the pie and leave it alone for the whole cook, it's hard to turn it down to a consistent level each time. Just for fun, next time I'm going to mimic this - turn flame down to minimum to start, high flame near the end.canuckland -
Actually, everything was covered very well in the user manual. Not quite as intuitive as I would have liked (as you have already learned), but once you figure things out by looking them up, it works really well. Bought it about a year and a half ago, and very happy with it.Canugghead said:@OhioEgger Good to hear, we can use some pointers if you have any to share.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011.
