OT - Lamb Shanks

My better half tried a new lamb shank recipe,
https://www.wholesomeyum.com/braised-lamb-shanks/
I helped with searing the protein. Instead of CI pan it's less messy and more even under the broiler...

Used garden tomatoes, herbs and deformed carrots (1st time growing carrots
)...

After the overnight nap in the slow cooker... (recipe also called for tomato paste)

Super happy with it, it's a keeper (served with mashed potato and roasted buttercup squash)...

Looks like a home run (too soon?), @canugghead. We don’t cook lamb at home that often, but get it frequently at a local Indian take out place. Your dish looks great, and that recipe looks pretty straightforward. Those are some unique carrots!
Think you got the winter storm just ahead of us. Hope you were ready! -
That looks mighty fine!Large Egg with adjustable rig, Kick Ash Basket, Minimax and various Weber's.

Back in SA we made a very similar recipe which was a very traditional way of cooking mutton or lamb it was called “ Tomato Bredie” 😋Greensboro North Carolina

@GrateEggspectations Thanks, tastes even better today. Did a google image search on the carrots, it could be due to overcrowding, poor soil and all sorts fo conditions

We had snow the whole weekend, as for readiness my generator is still untouched in box 😂 Our winter is not as severe as yours, having buried hydro cables also helps to some extent.canuckland -
@bluebird66 Thank you, yes it tasted good too if I may say so. Even better today.

@johnmitchell Thanks, I had to google tomato bredie, it does look similar. Back home in the Indian subcontinent we called it mutton too, must be a British colonial thing.
