Ot counter top ice maker

Hello everyone, im building a bar and would like to put in a portable ice maker. I just found out that the ice ends up freezing and melting and just made into ice again.

Do any of you have any experience with these? Would it be a good move to add it to the bar? I would like it to be as quiet as possible, I do a mini fridge there but it turns off most of the time and is very quiet. Will the ice maker just make noise all day?

Sounds like none of them "hold" ice, but at least it wouldn't be running all day.

No experience here but I'm also thinking of getting one. Our use case is different than yours though, we want to make ice for ice water, to cool down food for takeout, fridge or freezer.

Read some quick reviews...apparently the ice from these protable units are too soft and melts quickly in drinks. My plan is to fill a few ziplock bags and harden-store them in the freezer. We can deal with noise issue if any since it won't be used frequently and I can also run it in the laundry room.

I'm going to get this from Costco. In warehouse price is $10 cheaper than online, all three warehouses close to me have plenty in stock so I think it's probably a popular item. Hopefully I won't have to return it.

I ended up buying fancy ice cube trays and store them in my freezer in my laundry room. I've also read that they are soft so that kinda made my decision for me.

Go to a motel that rents by the hour.....push the ice machine out the back door

This is the one we have in the laundry room as backup. Agree what has been said before on hardness. If we know we are going to need extra ice we do what @Canugghead suggested and fill ziplocks and keep in the freezer. This one has really quick cycle.

@johnmitchell How do you like your Govee unit? I love their water leak sensor system. I took a quick look at a Govee icemaker with wifi that was heavily discounted, but ended up getting the basic Frigidaire unit (url above) at Costco.

Test drove the new toy and am fairly pleased with it. Footprint 12"x9", 11" tall at the front 13" at the back. Fan runs constantly, about the same loudness as a desktop CPU box.
Takes seven minutes for each cycle of nine large bullet shaped cups, six minutes for smaller cups...

One large ziploc bagful took about three hours, it's understandable give how small it is, small collection basket needed to be emptied a few times to fill the bag. It still takes work but imo it's easier than using ice cube trays. Time will tell.

@Mr1egg FYI, most warehouses are still selling at regular price $99.99, I got lucky and found one clearing them out at half price, cheaper than used ones on FB marketplace...

$50 is a really good price, I went to my local Costco and they didnt have any. We'll see what I end up doing.

Don't know if you knew, you can ask Costco to check for you, by phone or in person at the customer service kiosk behind the checkout, which warehouses in the area have the item in stock and their price. They just need the item# (see above).
