Ordered this about 6 weeks ago when SLT had a 20% off sale, showed up today. Couple slide out baskets will hold garlic, onions, potatoes, etc.
Should allow me to up my sourdough game as the granite counter top doesn't work too well for shaping boules.

Was vaguely aware of that. The baskets actually have a thin plastic liner to keep things from falling through the rattan (or whatever the weave is made of). Plan is potatoes in one basket, alliums in the other.

Yup, I have several jars of mineral oil - beeswax mix leftover from when I was making cutting boards and schlepping them here.

Years ago when Sur La Table closed most of their brick and mortars I had a fleeting opportunity to buy the Moos block on a commercial style stainless heavy duty rolling table frame. Maybe four feet square and four inches thick. They wanted $200 and had several. Even with my industry discount they offered, I slept on the deal, and someone I used to work for bought every one.

There’s an identical one used as a display at a local grocery store a few blocks away. I’ll see if I can get a pic.

Anyway - buy now. Regret later. Lesson learned.

nice addition.  i bought the boos rustica about 25 years ago, they stay up well. the first few knife cuts are painstaking but a few years later the patina blends it all in ;)

I am curious why you didn’t tackle the project yourself @CTMike? We’ve seen your work and know you are capable of making something like that.

If you look closely at the front apron you can see a couple walnut plugs. Something this thick has threaded rod running through it and bolted to help prevent warping/cracking. I don't have the equipment (yet 😂) to drill those holes with the necessary precision.

I've always been of the "buy once, cry once" mindset, much to my wife's chagrin.

    Similar to this?

Very. The neighborhood grocery here uses theirs to display beer (they have a “wall of beer” - pretty badass). I’ll get there in the next day or so and grab a pic.

They have had it covered with plexiglass since the day they got it, and I’ve asked in the past. But they like it to do beer tastings. They won’t sell.

Talk about life regrets. $200 is a steal for that behemoth.
