I never paid any attention as I never was interested, but I might be now. Are they even still made? If so how does one go about getting one? Special order from the mother ship via an ACE dealer? And lastly how many coins will it cost me in TOTAL?

Ron there are plenty around Atlanta in Ace locations and the website will report the inventory.  Trying to look for it via their website and changing location to Peoria showed zero availability. So maybe HQ or an Ace could get one to your area.

Thanks Cap - I'll probably go the Amazon route when I compare prices to that of BGE when I factor in my age which produces the FEW number of times I will even use the thing!!!

Ron check your local dealers or better yet get ahold of your local BGE rep and he’ll know who has one on the floor. That’s how I got mine

    Ron,

To muddy the waters even more, our Home Depots have several types in different price points in stock. I'm not sure if they stock them in your area.

Ron i would focus on your setting and smoke / sparks planning for what style to chase after. there has been a flourish of outdoor fire pit offerings the last few years. smokeless fire pits being a new one for 360 degree settings, lower or more focused sparks (straight up) and much less smoke. for a 180 degree view area and also with directed smoke and spark control a chiminea is great.

Also if you are sitting on an inventory of firewood, make sure its cut length is part of the plan.
