Is this gasket the right one?

This gasket comes with adhesive backing. Do I still need a high temperature cement? This says to apply to top and bottom. I only want to apply to the bottom of the egg.

Should I just buy some different kind of gasket and the right cement? I’d rather have the right thing than save a few bucks.

  • searching back in the forum there have not been many (or any?) people share their experience with that rutland branded self-adhesive gasket. nowhere near as many as those who get the kit from RRP— and that gasket is typically on one (base or dome) and not both.

I'm not confident that the self-adhesive stuff is going to last particularly long. I can't recall anyone having to replacement a Rutland gasket, installed with Permatex, because it failed.

Ping @RRP. He'll send you a gasket and instructions, for significantly less, than what that Rutland kit cost.
