Is this gasket the right one?

This gasket comes with adhesive backing. Do I still need a high temperature cement? This says to apply to top and bottom. I only want to apply to the bottom of the egg. Should I just buy some different kind of gasket and the right cement? I’d rather have the right thing than save a few bucks.

searching back in the forum there have not been many (or any?) people share their experience with that rutland branded self-adhesive gasket. nowhere near as many as those who get the kit from RRP— and that gasket is typically on one (base or dome) and not both.

I'm not confident that the self-adhesive stuff is going to last particularly long. I can't recall anyone having to replacement a Rutland gasket, installed with Permatex, because it failed.Ping @RRP. He'll send you a gasket and instructions, for significantly less, than what that Rutland kit cost.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I try not to upset the BGE corporate watchmen, but that gasket the OP showed has a 3M brand adhesive tape and sells for anywhere from $35 to $55 which is a far cry from my $12 price for instance for a Large. I am now within spitting distance from 10K sold in 23 years providing this service so I must be doing something right. BTW the OP and I have now communicated tonight. Now I'm back under cover out of harms way...I hope...
PS> in all fairness I should explain that in addition to the price I quoted above the buyer needs to buy the Permatex which runs $11 more so my cost is more like $23, but the real comparison is the longevity issue and I win that hands down!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
the first time over shooting 750 with that 3m adhesive on the gasket it will fall off, ive used that one before and it fails like the old felt gasketsfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
