Anybody hear of or use a beer brine for yard bird?

Tonight I was finally reading one of my new, but unread old Cook's Country magazines. A recipe caught my attention about the use of beer as a brine as its salt content plus other brewing flavors create an acidic brine which tenderizes chicken over night. In addition to 2 12 oz cans of regular beer (none of that light crap) plus 1/4 cup dark brown sugar supposedly creates a new WOW yard bird cook.

PS I would have tried it first before posting but I'm now in month number 10 of a 13 month complete dental overhaul meaning still no meat for the remaining 3 months of 2025. But cows and pigs and chickens better WATCH OUT come January!

Never heard of it but beer and anything has got to be a winner. Sacrificing 24 oz of non-light/lite beer is a serious commitment.
    I'll give a go Sunday.
Thanks for the steer.  A fun yardbird enhancer.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

I hear you @Ike - thats why I went with Option B - mine are permanent replacement false teeth. They are resting on 8 deep seated implants and are made with horseshoe shaped bars of titanium. I currently am fitted with temporary ones for 6 months and my finals will be 5 times as strong as these. I LOVE THEM already as they stay in just like a mouth full of real teeth!

We used to use beer and butter on scallops.

    Now, that seems wrong.

I will often use some soy sauce, which has about the same pH value as beer. If you're just looking for the acidity, either will do (or even a bit of ACV).

Like @lousubcap, I would have to be committed to the idea to sacrifice 24 oz of good beer!
Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.
