Rotisserie Chick

Took my redneck rotis out of retirement and spun a chick. Added a fist sized chunk from neighbour's cherry tree, for colour. Been doing chicken almost exclusively in pellet pooper in recent years, this is a welcome change but pp is way easier.

Great colour on that. No foul on this fowl.

Way to cook that yard bird. Cherry is great for colour (nod) as evidenced above. Just beautiful.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

What an aestethically satisfying way of cooking a bird!

WOW. i have not seen anything that good under a heat lamp at (insert retailer here)!!!
potatoes underneath is a good move too -
That looks fantastic. Was the only heat source at the back of the Egg or was there any heat coming from under the potatoes?-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In the spirit of “Eagle Eye” Gary himself, what’s up with the ceramic cap?

No heat from below, wish I had a foil pan there to catch the grease. The poked potatoes were parcooked in the microwave, then coated with oil, salt and garlic powder.Stormbringer said:That looks fantastic. In hind sight, after removing the chicken, I could have transferred the tray over the hot lump to get some char on the potatoes.

It was therapeutic watching the fire and the spinning bird, can't leave the lid open for too long though.Paolo said:What an aestethically satisfying way of cooking a bird!canuckland -

Im certain I missed it, but I REALLY love that tray. Would work for a bunch of things I do that need a problem solved. Any linky?Large BGE and Medium BGE

@MaskedMarvel Sorry no linky. Back story... many years ago I bought a Large BGE off a young guy for a song, it belonged to his late mother. The Egg itself was a steal but I got lucky, he threw in a pile of goodies that weren't mentioned in the CL ad (CL is a dinosaur here now btw). The extras included this all stainless tray, a pair of leather mittens, apron, tongs, fire starters, metal boxes, charcoal bucket, etc...
