Not buying anything today but am supporting the greater Texas and F1 pockets in a big way.
DH enjoys your culinary expertise and contributes to the household greater good.  Dang- DH has captured the life style most would espouse to...
When I visit Austin from flyover country it is once a year (lately (and this year) hooked in with the F1 weekend)  the serious side objective is brisket.  I totally enjoy the experience in chasing brisket within and well outside Austin.
Eakers in Fredericksburg, Interstellar in Austin were the destinations last year for great brisket treats.  (Side brisket snack at Mickelwhaits (sp?).
This year the targets are Eakers, Louie Mueller's in Taylor and Franklin's as I have not been there in a few years.  I will miss preliminary race event Friday AM for the Franklin's visit.  And yes I have been there a few times and even had a couple of one-ones with the Pope.  Gotta re-zero the counter.
    I can't wait.

Me? Well I just purchased a 14" Milwaukee electric (M18) chainsaw plus the FREE battery PLUS free shipping from Acme Tools. I already own other Milwaukee M18 products so this was a no brainer. Yes, I have Stihl gas chain saws, but in spite of them being advertised as easy to start THAT is BULL SH*T. This way when I have or a neighbor has an emergency situation I KNOW I can get the tree or limb cut up!

I have a couple of Stihl MS361s that start on the 3rd pull at most.

I also have the Stihl battery powered chainsaw on an extendable pole that I use to cut back the jungle from encroaching on the edges of the property.

Went to Austin this morning because DH had a meeting from 9:00-1:00. Dropped him off and got a haircut followed by a $250 trip to Central Market (think a Texas version of Whole Paycheck) for an hour and a half and an hour and $180 in Trader Joe’s. If you’re doing the math and wondering where the rest of my time went… the answer is traffic. The refresh on my spice cabinet smells like a Moroccan bizarre (in a good way).
Oh my!  I am a sucker for spices - I have drawers and cabinets full.  Penzey’s knows my name when I walk in 😆.

    Congrats on the reload!!

Awesome gift. I have a love of Japanese knives and no other cooking tool gives me more joy in the kitchen.

I told him to wash the knife to remove the protective oils, while I turned away to do other things. I next heard "Papa, I cut myself." Turn and look and there's blood all over his hand and the floor. He thought it would be a good idea to use a paper towel to wash the knife.

After cleaning and bandaging his finger, we had a discussion about proper knife handling. Thankfully the cut was superficial, and hopefully he won't make that
    mistake again.

Knives first blood - it chose him!

I’ve had all manner of sharp knives and generally cautious.  At home I always use dish towels.  Well, this past weekend at the demo cook I was cleaning a knife quickly and grabbed a paper towel.  Promptly sliced my index finger right open.  It happens, glad his lesson was without more severe consequences!

I looked at a large rotisserie for my Egg. Price $329.99 plus tax. I don’t think I need it.

I like using a non-abrasive dish wand on my Japanese knives. They provide distance from the blade.

Sharpened them this past week and, upon first use post-touch up, nicked the very end of my thumb. Nothing serious, but you can never be too careful with razor sharp blades and my cut was a good reminder.

My recommendation would be to have him watch a kitchen knife safety video or two.

@CTMike my dad always said don’t cut yourself when he would hand us a knife, but my mom always said if you think you might cut yourself stop what you’re doing. Both had good advice, but I feel mom’s has kept me safe longer.

I truly did not know there was a stainless steel VitaMix container. Then again, I did not know you could crack a VitaMix container. I've had mine for 20 years and that poly-carbonate is still going strong.

Do you use it to heat the soup?  We have the competing blendtec. I remember reading about heating soup in it. Never tried to. Quite possibly the loudest way to heat soup.

Learned two new things...Vitamix poly container is breakable, and you can get stainless. Just curious, did you notice higher decibel level with stainless? Also, you'll have to get used to watching the contents in action from the top instead of the side.
Edit: We've seen Vitamix soup demo at CNE and Costco, never tried it. I'm guessing the heat compromised the poly's structural integrity?
