Greetings all -
My BGE and Weber sit out on my composite deck. I have concerns about embers finding their way to the deck and causing damage. For now I'm hosing the deck off under the cookers prior to and sometimes during a cook so if a stray ember escapes somehow it will land on a wet surface and be extinguished. A very effective solution but hardly elegant. I'm wondering of any sort of protective mat product exists that I can put under my cookers?
Suggestions?

If your deck is in bright sunlight you definitely will see the effects of ultraviolet light on the deck not under the pad. And some composite materials can also be damaged by mildew from trapped moisture.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Ceramic floor tiles do pretty well and can be decorative.

I wanted to type this question out last night but never made it to it. I’m really more annoyed with grease off my Blackstone than anything. I’m grilling/smoking on a second story wood deck.I was wondering like @RRP said, if I put a grill mat down would the moisture under it mess up my wood decking over time.Decks showing some wear so one year real soon I’m redo it with composite.I’d the same as you, be very annoyed grilling and hosing off the deck each time before.

You don’t have to leave the mat on the deck at all times.

Me too! In fact I had my small Blackstone up against a brick wall until I saw what the grease splatters were doing. My solution? I scrubbed the wall and then kicked the Blackstone to the curb!MrCookingNurse06 said:I’m really more annoyed with grease off my Blackstone than anything.

the mat will help but isnt a full fix. chris from dizzypig had his garage on fire while egging out on the driveway.....fire is funny like thatfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

I am a new composite deck owner and finally got a metal grill table for my BGE. The table is 60" x 24" and I was trying to figure out what size grill mat to get. At first I was going for 60" width and then something like 36" deep.But then I wasn't sure what the mat was trying to do. (previously the BGE was on a rock wall)Is part of the reason is grease and other spills.... I would think with composite (Trek) grease and food can be cleaned up pretty easily.If it is just about sparks and embers, does the mat have to go all the way to the back, full side to side? Or do I just have it in the center were the BGE is and have it extend a bit or a little more than a bit so I am not standing on the end of it while I am grilling.A side note, with this new metal grill table, do I need to put anything under the BGE? I understand if I had a wood table I certainly would.

I have a mat under my MM setup on a wooden deck that is partially shaded. Not sure it is needed because I have never seen any evidence of escaping embers.
