Pasture Raised vs Industrial Sized

I’m not a nutritionist, chemist or all that smart in general; however, something tells me pasture raised chicken might indeed be healthier.

Every time I grill up pasture raised chicken, it’s unreal how much better it tastes. These were from a local higher end meat market, and they get their chicken from Joyce Farms out of NC. Didn’t do anything at all for these other than grill
them up.  The meat market had marinated them in a lemon pepper marinade.

They were whole breasts, hence the shape. About 1/4 of the size of standard Wally World chicken breasts. 10x more flavor though.

Also picked up some speckled butter beans and breaded okra while I was there. Been years since I’ve had butter beans. Forgot how delicious they are.

Finished the plate off with fried okra (personal favorite).

Wasn’t going to make a stand alone post, but @lousubcap made a good point about new threads. 🤗

I don't know about being objectively healthier,  but absolutely believe that it tasted better. That's worth it to me.

We spend the $ for organic pasture raised eggs, because I love eggs, and want them to be flavorful. And, organic berries, because there is a noticeable difference in taste. Otherwise, the organic label is often a marketing ploy.

Same with pasture raised eggs. They taste far better, and I'm convinced they're healthier as well.

A lot of it has to do with higher end birds being air chilled.

When picking out chicken at the store, avoid the chicken that looks like it has marks like rings on a tree. That’s going to be a tough bird.

Being from Canada, I am shocked when I see chicken breasts in the US grocery stores. The first time I honestly thought they were mis-labeled turkey breasts. Even the wings are huge compared to here up north. We often bring a bag of wings home as they are also cheap. I don't know why, maybe its just the climate, who knows.

I have a flock of 35 chickens so I have plenty of fresh eggs. I really can't eat store bought anymore.

Absolutely Love the Silkies chicken, as a breed, as they have a good temperament, though a low egg production.
We have a small egg farm, or you could call it a hen retirement farm, since we don’t eat our chickens. Farm fresh eggs taste way better than store bought.
