Indeed. The volunteer said the two ladies probably don't care but the three male residents would be upset without a grill. Talk about stereotyping  =)

My parents were both in assisted living, different facilities at different times, I couldn't have imagined them or any of their contemporaries grilling. Or shopping. Or cooking of any kind.

Independent living? 100%. But I'm sure there is a wide variation in functional abilities, it's a broad category.

    All in all, great gesture.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

    @Legume
That never crossed my mind, we didn't get into discussing the residents' age and FA. Just reread our FB exchange, he calls it a seniors assisted living group home, maybe it's some sort of hybrid arrangement with younger staff on site.

I'm moving into the 21st century. When my wife and I first bought our house my Dad swapped out our garage lights for some brighter ones. They were some fat 6" twisted looking lightbulbs that were a little strange looking but worked decent. My Dad hated them after a few years. To the point where he'd comment on them anytime we were working out in the garage. Pretty much became a running joke as how much he despised them.

I ran over to Northern Tool with my Dad as I needed to replace my multimeter. My Dad was behind me walking down one of the isles and the next thing I know he disappears. My Dad reappears with a couple boxes of LED garage lights. My Dad goes, "I'm replacing a couple of your garage lights." They didn't bother me enough where I felt they needed to be swapped out but my Dad thought otherwise. Once home I swapped out one of the old lights with a new LED one. I hit the switch and the new LED bulb didn't really seem much brighter next to one of the old incandescent bulbs. It was also in the middle of the day and not a very good test. Last night about 10:30 I opened the garage to let the dog out and I remembered that we swapped out one of the bulbs earlier in the day. (The main garage lights are on a different switch.) So I go over and hit the switch and it was an instant difference between the old bulb and the new LED one. To the point where I pulled the ladder back out and swapped out the other incandescent bulb for the other LED garage light. My Dad was right. Those old bright incandescent lights were junk.

I stopped over at Northern and picked up 3 more LED bulbs to finish out the garage this afternoon. My Dad is going to give me crap as he's been telling me for years to swap them out for something better. He left before seeing the difference between the new and old lights last night. It won't take him long too notice next time as we will probably have to wear sunglasses at night now. Ha!

i have one of those tri panel led lights in the garage - very nice and I like the ability to aim each panel where it needs to be.

KitchenAid cordless immersion blender, saw it was 21% off ($109) and I've always wanted to get a cordless one, don't like futzing with an electrical cord across a gas stove.

Wasn’t really in my near-term purchase crosshairs, but had really been lusting after an Irish-made Lowden guitar and found one in the classifieds that was less than a year old, in mint condition, and could be procured for a fraction of its sale price. Drove 10 hours round trip yesterday to grab it.

Sweet!  Is that for flat-picking or finger-picking?

@GrateEggspectations I'm clueless with anything music related but that sounds like a great score. Did you cross the border or were you in my neighbourhood by any chance? Reminds me of this guy who flew in one-way with a buddy from the East Coast to buy my son-in-law's Honda Element.

Thanks. I’m pretty stoked. The “F” model denotes flat picking and it’s said to be equally adept to fingerpicking of flat picking. Put on fresh, heavier gauge strings when I got home last night and am putting it through the paces. True to the description, it’s versatile and handles it all in stride.

Got some speakers on sale for Prime days.  Was going to need them later in the year anyway when I start bringing some of my Dad’s LPs from Maine to MD, but Sonos hasn’t been able to figure out why the system can’t find the music on my laptop for some 7-8 months, and the system is getting very glitchy when steaming from Spotify, so it is time to go back to wired speakers and a Bluetooth amp.

Plus, now that we’re back in the office full-time, my wife’s office space is transitioning back to living space and the sooner I lay a claim the more likely it is that my input is listened to.
@Acn The Sonos update last summer was a nightmare.  What ended up working for me was to do a factory reset + update the speaker firmware using the computer software/application rather than the mobile phone application.  Days wasted on the phone with Sonos support… terrible, terrible, terrible.
Yeah, I spent probably 1-1.5 hours on the phone with support 4 or 5 times.  They always had me trying the same things.  It was painful.  The wife agreed that the new speakers sound much better, and once we get some speaker stands she’ll be happy with the way things look.

As An added bonus, some other things in the living room that (to my eyes) were just clutter are being moved out, so it’s a win all the way around for me.
I know nothing about guitars, but that looks beautiful!  Congrats on the find.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

@Botch now I am concerned about my years of reckless immersion blender cord dragging over my gas stove, but I am the same person who cut the cord (not once but twice) on the electric hedge trimmer… glad I can fix things 🤣

Been there. Guess how I discovered the exposed wire.

Thanks! Was lucky to score it, as the seller had underpriced it (he knew) and received interest from another dozen people after me within a very short window.

You were an hour from me.  I was in the guitar business for 45 years and have a few nice guitars (too many really).  One of my favourites is a 1918 Martin 00-18.  I had a few lowden’s over the years and they were all very special guitars.  Nice find!

Hey Glenn. Recalled your history with guitars and knew you’d be familiar with Lowdens. Bet the Martin sings!
