Well antiperspirant for feet is something I never imagined googling…

Not buying but sold something with an interesting story to share.
I inherited this small electric grill from someone over a year ago, tested it out but never cooked with it. As part of my declutter exercise I listed it on fb marketplace for peanuts.

After entertaining a few "Is it still available?"s, a serious buyer contacted me with a heart warming story.
The guy is in a small town 1.5 hrs north of me. An old lady donated a house to the township with the stipulations that it cannot be sold and must be used for elderly assisted living. The house looks big and gorgeous (he showed me pictures) but needed tons of work inside. Habitat for Humanity stepped up...renovated the whole place and furnished it with donated furniture. Here's the twist, fire inspector would not allow the gas bbq saying it's a safety hazard for oldies
I told him (he's a volunteer for HFH) to just take it but he insisted on paying me, we settled on less than half of my asking price. I degreased and clean burned the unit so it was ready for immediate use.canuckland -

Every contribution helps and yours is fantastic @Canugghead I can just imagine how happy someone will be to still have the freedom to grill while in assisted living.

And @fishlessman that dislike is from me… I can promise you that it I end up in the water it will be from me accidentally falling in!

Indeed. The volunteer said the two ladies probably don't care but the three male residents would be upset without a grill. Talk about stereotypingBeanHead said:Every contribution helps and yours is fantastic @Canugghead I can just imagine how happy someone will be to still have the freedom to grill while in assisted living.

My parents were both in assisted living, different facilities at different times, I couldn't have imagined them or any of their contemporaries grilling. Or shopping. Or cooking of any kind.
Independent living? 100%. But I'm sure there is a wide variation in functional abilities, it's a broad category.
All in all, great gesture.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
@Legume
That never crossed my mind, we didn't get into discussing the residents' age and FA. Just reread our FB exchange, he calls it a seniors assisted living group home, maybe it's some sort of hybrid arrangement with younger staff on site.

I'm moving into the 21st century. When my wife and I first bought our house my Dad swapped out our garage lights for some brighter ones. They were some fat 6" twisted looking lightbulbs that were a little strange looking but worked decent. My Dad hated them after a few years. To the point where he'd comment on them anytime we were working out in the garage. Pretty much became a running joke as how much he despised them.
I ran over to Northern Tool with my Dad as I needed to replace my multimeter. My Dad was behind me walking down one of the isles and the next thing I know he disappears. My Dad reappears with a couple boxes of LED garage lights. My Dad goes, "I'm replacing a couple of your garage lights." They didn't bother me enough where I felt they needed to be swapped out but my Dad thought otherwise. Once home I swapped out one of the old lights with a new LED one. I hit the switch and the new LED bulb didn't really seem much brighter next to one of the old incandescent bulbs. It was also in the middle of the day and not a very good test. Last night about 10:30 I opened the garage to let the dog out and I remembered that we swapped out one of the bulbs earlier in the day. (The main garage lights are on a different switch.) So I go over and hit the switch and it was an instant difference between the old bulb and the new LED one. To the point where I pulled the ladder back out and swapped out the other incandescent bulb for the other LED garage light. My Dad was right. Those old bright incandescent lights were junk.
I stopped over at Northern and picked up 3 more LED bulbs to finish out the garage this afternoon. My Dad is going to give me crap as he's been telling me for years to swap them out for something better. He left before seeing the difference between the new and old lights last night. It won't take him long too notice next time as we will probably have to wear sunglasses at night now. Ha!

After swapping out the two incandescent bulbs for the two LED lights I told my wife to come check out the difference. Her response while getting up was, "Do I have to and yes it's going to look different." She sticks her head out the garage door for two seconds and says, "Yep, it looks different." Turns around and goes back inside while I'm basking in the new LED rays thinking on how it will improve future projects. It must be a guy thing.
The garage switch in our house only operates the middle garage light socket. So one 10,000 lumen LED light does a nice job lighting up the garage for everyday use. The other garage switch that is out in the garage lights up four additional lights. I had all five lights on this evening and it kicks out some nice light. Most of the time I'll have the garage door open and that partially covers a portion of the front two lights. I don't think I'd want all 5 lights on all the time but it will come in handy in the early evenings this fall when working out in the garage when needed."The pig is an amazing animal. Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -

Me too -

KitchenAid cordless immersion blender, saw it was 21% off ($109) and I've always wanted to get a cordless one, don't like futzing with an electrical cord across a gas stove.

Wasn’t really in my near-term purchase crosshairs, but had really been lusting after an Irish-made Lowden guitar and found one in the classifieds that was less than a year old, in mint condition, and could be procured for a fraction of its sale price. Drove 10 hours round trip yesterday to grab it.Lowden F-32C.

Sweet! Is that for flat-picking or finger-picking?GrateEggspectations said:Wasn’t really in my near-term purchase crosshairs, but had really been lusting after an Irish-made Lowden guitar and found one in the classifieds that was less than a year old, in mint condition, and could be procured for a fraction of its sale price. @GrateEggspectations I'm clueless with anything music related but that sounds like a great score. Did you cross the border or were you in my neighbourhood by any chance? Reminds me of this guy who flew in one-way with a buddy from the East Coast to buy my son-in-law's Honda Element.

@Botch
Thanks. I’m pretty stoked. The “F” model denotes flat picking and it’s said to be equally adept to fingerpicking of flat picking. Put on fresh, heavier gauge strings when I got home last night and am putting it through the paces. True to the description, it’s versatile and handles it all in stride. -
I know nothing about guitars, but that looks beautiful! Yeah, I spent probably 1-1.5 hours on the phone with support 4 or 5 times. They always had me trying the same things. It was painful. The wife agreed that the new speakers sound much better, and once we get some speaker stands she’ll be happy with the way things look.paqman said:
@Acn The Sonos update last summer was a nightmare. What ended up working for me was to do a factory reset + update the speaker firmware using the computer software/application rather than the mobile phone application. Days wasted on the phone with Sonos support… terrible, terrible, terrible.Acn said:Got some speakers on sale for Prime days. Was going to need them later in the year anyway when I start bringing some of my Dad’s LPs from Maine to MD, but Sonos hasn’t been able to figure out why the system can’t find the music on my laptop for some 7-8 months, and the system is getting very glitchy when steaming from Spotify, so it is time to go back to wired speakers and a Bluetooth amp.Plus, now that we’re back in the office full-time, my wife’s office space is transitioning back to living space and the sooner I lay a claim the more likely it is that my input is listened to.
As An added bonus, some other things in the living room that (to my eyes) were just clutter are being moved out, so it’s a win all the way around for me.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

@Botch now I am concerned about my years of reckless immersion blender cord dragging over my gas stove, but I am the same person who cut the cord (not once but twice) on the electric hedge trimmer… glad I can fix things 🤣

@Ozzie_Isaac
Thanks! Was lucky to score it, as the seller had underpriced it (he knew) and received interest from another dozen people after me within a very short window. -
You were an hour from me. I was in the guitar business for 45 years and have a few nice guitars (too many really). One of my favourites is a 1918 Martin 00-18. I had a few lowden’s over the years and they were all very special guitars. Nice find!GrateEggspectations said:Wasn’t really in my near-term purchase crosshairs, but had really been lusting after an Irish-made Lowden guitar and found one in the classifieds that was less than a year old, in mint condition, and could be procured for a fraction of its sale price.
