If your current setup doesn't have any issues then I wouldn't change. I had to go with the new style due to a gravity induced humpty dumpty event a few years ago.  I can't think of any real advantages with the new bands.  The new setup does not have as large a vertical opening.  I can't speak to the rotisserie.  FWIW-

I thought it was worth it. There's little tabs to keep the dome from falling out if the hinges loosen up which does happen over time. The opening does shrink a bit though.

The original is still fine for me. Starting to rust in a few spots, but still just as good as ever. I doubt if I'll replace it with the new style for a number of years yet.

Remember the term  - if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Now with that said, Ova B., over the years BGE has had several new sets of bands with each being an improvement over the previous. So without either seeing a picture it's hard to really attest whether upgrading is worth it or not. For instance if your band is one of the old original scissor style or even the later style that had a locking lever which had to be depressed then from either of those an upgrade would be beneficial. But if your egg is relatively new say within the last 8 years then the up change won't really be that beneficial.

Yes sir ! I remember , I have an RRP Rutland Gasket on my egg . I do not have a locking lever on my hinge , I think my egg is around a 2012 model . I just keep seeing the new hinge and had wondered. Thank You for your insight !

Agreed that if it's working there isn't a reason to replace it. I fought with alignment issues for a while and finally went to the new style. It helped with the alignment issues. I bought the large in 2012

For me, it was worth it because I had a chronic recurring underbite that was driving me nuts.  No matter how many times I adjusted it it would come back. The new bands/hinge eliminated it entirely on the first attempt.

  • same here. the underbite, failing springs and it felt tippy at full open nudged me to replace. was worth it. there was a monster thread on this a few years back with tips on install if you go for the replacement at some point.
