FREE wild black cherry wood in Central IL

RRP
RRP Posts: 26,034
One night in August we were hit with 90 mph wind. Only real damage was to a large Iimb 22 feet long and 15” in diameter that broke off a wild black cherry tree. I now have enough cherry for the rest of my egging life! I’ve used cherry chips for years for chicken and pork, but always bought bags of chunks and chips. If anyone in the Peoria, IL area wants to bring a chainsaw you are certainly welcome to lengths of the remaining 10 feet of this or ALL of it.  Just send me a PM.

Very nice offer and glad you are ready to more actively engage here.  Good that the only casualty was the tree.  Had to be a mature tree for that sized limb.
Stay healthy and safe out there-

Yes - it is a large very tall old tree which has a very straight clear trunk which I guess to be like 20 feet or better without a probable knot hole and the tree itself is at least twice that height! We have owned this lot since 1979 and it was nice back then 45 years ago! I always dreamed of having it cut down and milled into planks and then dry it and build some piece of furniture for us...but at my age of 80 I think I'll pass that dream on to some other woodworker in another century.

When someone says they're gonna PM me I never know if I should expect pre or post menopausal contact. I'm open to anything but it's nice to know what you're walking into. Is it too much to ask for another letter to be thrown in there? PRM vs POM.

We had similar storm come rolling through this past Monday. The storm It dropped a couple boxelder trees over at my parents property. Today was day 3 of cleanup. Their nextdoor neighbor had a limb go through their roof and halfway into their bathroom ceiling.

It's nice that you were able to use harvest some of that wood that came down for smoking anyways. I can't say the same for boxelder.

I'm in central northern Indiana.   I'm tempted @RRP.  But I was able to procure some cherry last year that I'm still trying to use up!
