OT - family farmhouse getaway

Just had a family getaway at an AirBB farmhouse with modern amenities as well as livestock.
View from the dining room window...

S.I.L did first dinner, Ribeye roast and blade roast smoked in Traeger and seared on gasser at home...

sliced, added butter and herbs, into the kitchen box...

Cream of mushroom sour dough soup bowl, Ontario corn...

Getting ready to step on landmines of poop...

After dinner chore - rounding up and feeding the goats, sheep and alpacas before they retire for the night. The first night was quite a challenge for us city dwellers, struggled for probably 3/4 of an hour! Got it all figured out on the last day, done in under ten minutes...

Also feeding the birds...

Morning chore - letting the animals out and collect eggs for breakfast...

Not allowed to use the firepit before 6pm, my Solo Stove came to the rescue since littles ones can't stay up late...

MSMSM (nod @Ozzie_Isaac)for second dinner, cured and smoked at home, steamed on site for 4 hours, easy peasy...

Frozen burgers, glad I brought the GrillGrates, no contact with yucky communal gasser grill and no flare up...

Daughter made spaghetti and meatballs for last dinner, with sour dough garlic bread, garden lettuce, tomatoes and basil from home...

Final chore...

It was fun and memorable.
The second grandkid asked, can we eat the goat and chicken?

@Ozzie_Isaac Indeed, nice break from the city life and not seeing anyone else.canuckland

@Botch I'm sure it was fun. Had my parents stayed in rural China I would have been a farm boy like you, lol.
Edit: Had to google WBAGNFARB again

What a great and memorable vacation across the ages. Never mind the banquets. Full props to whomever organized the adventure.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Lots of memories made on that getaway.

Jealous! Before retiring I used to tell my swmbo we should buy a 'hobby' farm and move out of the city, never happened.bluebird66 said:That's my everyday life.canuckland -
@lousubcap @shtgunal3 Thanks, it was indeed special because most of the grandkids are Covid babies, compounded with scheduling conflicts this is our first getaway when everyone was able to make it. The farm experience was just gravy on top!
The couple that owns the farm is our S.I.L's friends, their story is inspiring...

The farm house you stayed at never had that level of cooking. I’m sure the livestock was on notice.South of Columbus, Ohio.

Funny you said that, first thing that came to mind when we saw the chickens was 'would the owner notice if I cooked one of them', lolalaskanassasin said:The farm house you stayed at never had that level of cooking. I’m sure the livestock was on notice.canuckland -

Whoa that's an amazing set of pictures especially picture #3. Going to do this with some chimichurri sauce. What herbs did you use?-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very unconventional vacation. Taking care of the animals probably provided for a pretty great bonding experience with the family. The meals look fantastic. Bet the farm chores and fresh air made the food taste all the better.

Thanks. Taking care of livestock was the highlight, the two older grandkids also had tons of fun in the pool and game room; gathering around live fire for s'mores was enjoyed by all too.GrateEggspectations said:Very unconventional vacation.
